Avys had been with this duo, Sabaku and Sunā, for just a short amount of time. They had only begun frequenting each other after she left the palace. Avys, despite being on the run, had no idea how the street life worked. She was so used to the palace, where she didn’t have to worry about food or shelter. Sabaku, the male of the group, didn’t seem to trust her very much. He was extremely protective of Sunā, like she was his little sister. Although he was quite serious, he did seem to be on good terms with Avys.

Sunā was instantly likable, simply like a little child! To both of them though, Avys was merely Av, because she was intelligent, and didn’t want to throw her name around to people she barely knew. Although the trio had only been formed recently, they were all trudging along together, trying to find a place where food and items could be bought. Sunā, while being extremely likable, complained. All. The. Time. Sabaku mostly kept quiet, leading the way. “Are we there yet?” complained Sunā once again. “No, and that’s the third time you’ve said that in 5 minutes,” Sabaku looked at Sunā annoyingly. Avys grinned at the banter, and looked into the distance, shielding her eyes from the sun.

A faint silhouette could be made out, and she saw the roof of a canopy building. “Look!” She exclaimed, pointing at the horizon. “There’s the market!” Avys started running in excitement, the others close behind. The hot sun was beating down on her, and she was grateful that they had found the marketplace. “Av, wait up please!” complained Sunā. Despite her cries, the trio arrived into the marketplace in delight. Avys looked around at all of the vendors. Many were yelling out things, trying to convince fellow bystanders that they truly had “dragon tears to heal wounds,” or “love potions for severe crushes”. “Av, you have money on you right?” Sabaku questioned, looking at her expectantly. For the instant of a second, Avys thought she had left her pouch of coins in the palace, but no, she felt it in her pockets. “Yes, I do,” responded Avys, looking at the canopy rooftops in amazement, the sunlight filtering through them, making the market ground a colorful burst. Avys grinned, she was glad they had made it here, it was worth it, and although she had left the palace, for an instant, she truly felt that everything was great, and that this was her life.
