Chapter 1

Log date 2238. Day 144 in this wretched prison. Thankfully they haven’t confiscated my screens yet, but there’s still no connection to the Database in here. It seems that the Diamonds no longer want anything to do with me. Out of sight, out of mind. Maybe-

Someone tapped the outside of the cell. Blue Zircon jumped and looked up from her log, half-expecting to see a guard ready to finally bubble her. Instead, there was a gem she didn’t recognize- another Zircon, from the looks of it. Except, she wasn't like any Zircon Blue had seen before. She had no hood, just messy green hair with a yellowish streak, and instead of the standard vest, she wore a suit and tie. She wore glasses, too, and her front teeth stuck out in an almost comical fashion. Had she been human, her dark green gemstone would have rested right where her heart would be.

”Excuse me... you’re Zircon 2J9D, cut 7OE, correct? The defendant for the Rose Quartz case?”

Blue narrowed her eyes. "Who's asking?"

"Green Zircon, facet 4I2E, cut 8HQ. I've been sent by Green Diamond to bust you guys out of here!" Green lowered her voice at the last part. Blue stared up at her, mind full of suspicion and confusion. Something in her told her that this new gem wasn't authorized to be in the prison. Was this some plot by the Diamonds to get rid of her?

"What do you mean, 'bust us out of here'?" She hissed. "Who's Green Diamond? And what do you mean by 'you guys'? Who else is-"

"I'll explain on the way. Right now, I just need to get you out of here. Stand back," Green interjected. She turned to the control panel near the cell door, and pulled what appeared to be her weapon out of her gem- a set of brass knuckles. "Here goes," She muttered, and with surprising force, smashed the control panel into shards. The force field blocking off the cell dissipated, letting Blue escape. Green stuck out her hand, weapon dissolving into light. "Come on, we have to go! Now!" The lights in the prison corridor turned red, and an alarm began to sound. "They know I'm here- we have to hurry!"

Blue hesitated, but seeing that this strange new gem had broken the force field holding her captive, she figured it'd be best to go with her. She grabbed Green's hand and pulled herself to her feet.

"Now what?" Blue glanced around nervously, hearing heavy footsteps heading their way. Green frantically tapped at her screens.

"Umm- there's one more Gem I had to bring! Do you know the cell location of Yellow Zircon 9A7H-2FI? The prosecutor for the Rose Quartz trial? She should be in this block too..."

"Down the hall from here, I think- she got put in before me," Blue said, gesturing to a cell a few doors down. "One of those. I'll know her when I see her."

Blue grabbed Green's hand and the two ran down the hallway, screeching to a halt in front of a cell containing a panicked-looking Yellow Zircon.

"Yellow! Yellow, it's me, Blue!" Yellow stared up at her, confusion and fear in her eyes.

"We're getting you guys out of here!" Green added, drawing her weapon for another destructive punch. The force field fizzled out, and Blue stuck out her hand for Yellow.

"Who is-"

"I don't know, but she's here to let us out! We're gonna be free! Just- come on!" She pulled Yellow to her feet just as a group of guards rounded the corner. Yellow grabbed Blue's arm in fear, and Blue cursed her bad judgment. This was a terrible idea.

"Stand back." Green pulled her brass knuckles back from her gem, spreading her arms wide to protect the other two. She lunged forwards, narrowly dodging the lead Topaz's Destabilizer- and punched the Gem right in the jaw! Blue and Yellow watched in shock as the other Zircon landed several hits to the much larger guard's head, to the point that when she was done, the Topaz was out cold on the floor. The other guards could only stare as their leader was taken down. They turned and ran, fumbling with their communicators and yelling for backup.

"Woah..."

"Well, that's taken care of. Now we just have to get to the exit before they come back," Green stated, dusting residue of light off her hands. She looked around, then set off towards the way out. "This way! The port's right outside!" She lead them to a small, emerald-green ship hidden among the others. The trio barely made it inside before a whole squadron of Quartzes came rushing out of the prison's open doors.
