My Dark Disquiet

Night, the world....it's mine, with nobody else out here.

June 21, 2219. Just a normal day, or so I thought back then. The second to last day of a convention.

Looking back on that day, I haven’t a clue how I thought it was normal. Well, in fact, it was the day where my life completely changed, whether it be for the better, or for the worse. The ups and downs during and after this day of fate have fundamentally altered how the course of the rest of my life will be charted. So sit back, and I'll bring you to the time and place it all started, "The Day Where Everything Changed".

11:45 am. “Just a few more minutes until lunch. I’m starving!”
Then the organizers of this so called session decided to turn my whole life into a disaster.

I can still recall their exact words. “Who’s got the most spirit in this room? Whoever shows it off the most gets lunch first.“

Bad idea, for real, to tell that to several thousand famished teenagers who are “stans“ of some sort or another.

It’s time, run wild, and royally cavalier.

The entire room erupted into a high frequency mess. It’d be like going to a Beatles concert, except the concert was in a modern-day NFL stadium.

To burn, ignite, I’d do it for so much less

I am ashamed to admit, I lost control. I lost the last shred of self perseverance. I don’t know what happened during the actual event, I was for all intents and purposes blacked out mentally. The reins were snapped out of my mental hands, and some force had taken it all away.

When all is made clear, there is nothing else...

A few minutes later, I found my true condition. It was the aftermath of the storm. I had apparently been moved somewhere safer for me, but I desperately wanted to be back in the heat of the action. The action that had changed my life, I hadn't even seen or experienced.

When I come to, it's resin all over me.

I noticed that my wings had a few hundred feathers missing, visibly exposing a large amount of bone. The bone I saw? Visibly shattered and…not looking so good. Could that room really have shattered bone?! How did this come to be?

But…why me, of all people? I didn’t do anything wrong. It was a natural reaction.

My mind had started a war with itself and my body. I don't know what I'm going to be in for, but I'm...here for it, I guess.

Fire and forgive. We all. Fire and forgive. We call. Fire and forgive....
