" shhh ... " she hums, fingers working slowly over their fur. the moon illuminates the ground before the trio, painting the blood-stained floor a pastel blue. fawn tries her hardest not to look beyond the pool of light, knowing more than well what's slumped against the wall in the darkness. her fists curl into victor's scruff on the back of his neck, dragging him closer. kremer, bless his heart, nudges his nose against her elbow, and wiggles his way under it, carefully licking victor's cheek.

fawn, despite being trapped between two potentially murderous beasts, feels safe. comfortable, even. the blood drips with a disgusting noise through the floorboards onto the foundation underneath them, but she pays it no mind. the hot rusty iron overwhelms her sense of smell, but she simply just lowers her head and buries her nose into the fluff behind victor's ear. the morning will come, the moon will hide her face, the two beside her will go back to normal.

at least, that's what she prays.

Author's Notes

this was an au! i believe that victor and kremer were some sort of shifters, and fawn was just like a person trying to keep them safe and out of harms way, and they ended up attacking someone ?
