A child

Khonsu pads around the room, wings fluttering nervously while Jake sleeps in the middle of the room, his body wrapped around the egg sat on the bed, with a blanket gently tossed over the top of it. He can’t help his anxiety, he’s never felt like it before, but it’s their egg, something if they’re honest they never expected to happen and they’ve never been so worried, they feel sick to the bottom of their stomach.
Khonsu is not good with people, honestly, he even struggles with talking to and having open communication with Jake, and they’re literally mentally connected at this point. Part of him worries that he won’t be a good parent, and that maybe he’ll do something that will mess up the child or harm them in some way, Jake keeps reassuring him that this isn’t it the case and that he’ll be a good parent. Part of Khonsu agrees with him, Jake tends to speak a lot of sense, a lot of the others that know both of them call Jake the more level headed one, or at least, the more level headed one of the two when it comes to interacting with other people. Khonsu continues to pace around the room, worrying and lost in his head, both wings and tail flicking anxiously.

Jake lifts his head from the bed, just high enough to be able to watch Khonsu, but not yet let him be known that they are being observed. He watches him do a couple of laps before he decides to speak up, he’s feeling exhausted and worried just watching Khonsu, and he’s not even keyed into Khonsu’s thoughts yet.
“Come settle down, I’m not even paying attention to you yet, but I am already feeling exhausted by you.” Jake speaks up, and Khonsu practically jumps out of his skin at his partner’s voice.
“Oh, Jake, I’m sorry I didn’t realise you were awake.” He says, padding toward him and the egg. With a slight yawn, Jake gets up stretching, keeping his tail wrapped around the base of the egg, body pressed to it, but sitting up to address his partner clearly. Khonsu comes over and presses a soft kiss into Jake’s forehead, to which Jake leans into it,
“Look, we both know that you’re anxious about our egg, but you will be fine, you’ll be a brilliant parent and will always have me by your side.” Jake sooths him and Khonsu’s head lowers, slightly embarrassed in a sense, he’s used to being the suave member, who may not understand others, but at least doesn’t care about what others think, when it comes to Jake however, it is a completely different feeling. “There is however, no reason to be embarrassed about your anxiety, it is a perfectly normal thing for a new parent to be will feel.” Jake continues to comfort him, as Khonsu now comes to sit next to Jake, his own tail wrapping around the other edge of the egg slightly, though it’s far more hesitant than Jake.
“I just…” Khonsu starts up but Jake silences him with a gentle hush, before kissing the side of Khonsu’s face,
“It’s late, please just come and relax with me, it’s late and we’re both exhausted. We should still have a little while before this little one hatches, remember we’re both first time parents here, we can do it together and if we need help, there are plenty of sources we can go to.” Jake smiles out softly, before then shifting back, allowing room for Khonsu to also wrap around the egg with him, while also staying in the bed. Slowly he does so, wrapping around the egg, though Jake can feel the hesitance in his movement, he really doesn’t blame Khonsu for how he feels, a child to their life really will be a big change for the both of them.
The two end up laying nose to nose around the egg, Jake glances over at it as he can feel their child inside it, making the egg rock slightly, part of him does fear that they have less time than he promised Khonsu before they come along. At least he’s happy, that he’s calmed Khonsu’s nerves for now, all of the vibes coming off of him now are calmer, though there is still some notes of anxiety in the back of their. Jake lets his eyes drift slowly shut, though his tail betrays him a little bit by wagging happily behind him, he knows that they can cope with this, considering everything Khonsu has gone through alone, and then further from that what they both went through while discovering the fact that they had become hived together. Neither of them have quite worked out why that happened, Khonsu has lots of ideas, mostly attaining to the moon and that causing this, and Jake honestly doesn’t believe this in the slightest, but in honesty he doesn’t really care or mind. They’re together now and that’s about all that matters.
