Devin NEW Backstory

In the future, soon after their marriage, Lydia discovers that she is two months pregnant. Devin is surprised and elated to see they've already taken the biggest step in their marriage.

Months pass, and Devin does everything he can to comfort and be there for his wife and baby, and most of all, protecting them. And after five months, they learn that they will be having a baby boy. Devin isn't overjoyous about it, since he wanted a girl and not another him.

Lydia gives birth to the baby and names him Jonah. Like his father, he inherits the dominant gene for superhuman traits. Devin is disappointed and fears the future of his son. He grows up very healthy, thinking he's a normal human boy like his peers and classmates. But Devin and Lydia choose not to tell him the truth until he's older and starts to see the differences.

11 years later, when Jonah is in sixth grade, he hits puberty and everything goes downhill. 

For a little while, Jonah was assured by knowing that growing was normal, and that every boy had a growth spurt somewhere in his life. But it wasn't long before he realized he wasn't like the other kids. While boys in his class were 5 foot 5 inches at the tallest, Jonah was nearing the six foot range, already growing faster than Devin was at his age. And of course, Jonah was abnormally strong. By this time, he'd have to start taking the drug or the school would grow concerned. 

Jonah ran home and confronted his parents. By now, he knew that there was something unnatural about him, and that Devin and Lydia were hiding something. Instinctively, he looked to his father for an answer since he was abnormally tall as well. Devin knew that it was time to have the talk, so he took Jonah some place private. 

Jonah asked for the truth and he finally received it. He wasn't human and inherited this super strength and super size from his father. For 15 years, he'd lived with the delusion that he was like every other boy, or just like all his friends. This enraged him and he lashed out against Devin, attacking him with all his strength. Devin expected this, and let himself be hit. He was ashamed for lying to his son for so many years, but didn't want to see the heartbreak it would cause. Now he had to face it head-on. Jonah proceeded to back his father into a corner, punching his face left and right in a furious fit. After his face was bruised enough, Devin put a stop to his son's rage and held him to the ground. He continued to hold Jonah until he tired himself trying to wriggle from his grip, then let him go. Jonah scrambled and ran to the wall and faced him in a defensive stance. The table was overturned and the two chairs on their sides. He grabbed each of these and hurled them at Devin. Easily, he caught them and put them down safely while approaching him.

As he got closer, Jonah was cornered and had nowhere to run. Devin took this time to apologize. "I'm sorry, Jonah. I'm sorry I waited so long to tell you. You can be mad at me, I understand." Before he knew it, the two were sitting down talking again.
