Enn & Harrow: A Decision

Enn
A few days later, broad daylight, and he usually wasn't just wandering the harbor alone. But he was now, a very confident step in a set direction, stopping suddenly to knock on a door he'd been in front of just a few days ago. Enn didn't expect this to go very smoothly, but he could be stubborn too.

Harrow
In the last few days Harrow had been recovering well from the fight with the monster—not so well from their encounter at the Black Jug. It took a minute for Harrow to open the door. Looking tired and somewhat disheveled, they glared briefly at the man they found on the doorstep before shutting the door in his face a moment later. “No.” Well, they attempted to shut the door.

Enn
Yeah, no, he'd been prepared for that reaction, foot already in the doorway. "It's been days, Harrow, let's try to at least talk this over. Your hermit-habit isn't doing you favors." They always retreated like this when life threw them lemons, Enn knew. "I brought snacks?"

Harrow
"No! And I do not have a hermit habit," Harrow protested (they did have a hermit habit). But still, they opened the door enough to let him slip through. No matter how angry they were with him or how betrayed they felt, he was still their oldest friend. They weren't going to slam the door on his foot. The apartment was dim and dusty as ever; and it had become a bit messier in the past few days. Some clothes were piled on a chair, a nest of blankets on the bed. Harrow stood, arms crossed, by the little kitchen table. "So.. talk." They grumbled.

Enn
"I've got no better name for it, but you do." Swan could come up with something clever but that was exactly why Swan wasn't with him. Or anyone. He wanted to talk to Harrow alone, without them feeling like he was up to something. He gave Harrow a little nod as he was let in, at least taking off the long black coat he'd been wearing. But once inside, he honestly had no idea where to put it. So it hung over his arm a while. "You should open a window." Was Enn's reply to Harrow's command. "And I'm sorry for not telling you about Azcasu. I didn't want to ruin your day, and by not doing so I did exactly that." Enn admitted. Apologizing wasn't his strong suit, not really.

Harrow
They grumbled more under their breath but did go over to open a window. A breeze wafted in immediately, carrying with it the scent of salt water. "Didn't want to ruin my day," they repeated, turning back around to glare. "You knew. You knew the whole time and didn't say a thing. You could've told me a month ago. Don't tell me it just slipped your mind that I might want to know that my part--that my ex-partner is in Faline. That she's alive rather than, I don't know, buried in the middle of nowhere like Maresa." Their voice was raised, though not quite to the point of yelling. "This is a bit more than ruining my fuckin' day, Enn."

Enn
"What good would it have done. You'd have left Faline, am I wrong?" He got it, Harrow had a right to be mad with him. There wasn't anything he could do for them but explain himself. "I know that doesn't excuse anything," He grimaced, laying his coat down over a chair, "I do not exactly have much contact with Azcasu. It wasn't on my mind, it should've been." Enn paused, the scent of sea slowly replacing the stale scent the apartment had adopted. "I didn't intend to keep secrets from you. But this was an error in judgement for sure." He didn't like admitting that he did those too.

Harrow
He wasn’t wrong. “I don’t know.” They bit their lip, pacing around a little. From the window, to the kitchen area and back. And again. “Yeah. An error in judgement.” When their back was turned to the window again, a rustling sound made Harrow look behind them. Owl had flown up and perched on the sill, holding a folded newspaper in his beak. “-Uh.” The familiar looked between Enn and Harrow a bit warily- they were both very tense. “Am I interrupting something?”

Enn
What had he hoped for? That Harrow would forgive him that easily? Of course not. Likely never if he was honest to himself, and they wouldn't be the first. "Don't leave, though. If you want we can confront Azcasu together." The owl did interrupt, and Enn's face said as much. A newspaper? "You are. Can this wait?"

Harrow
Harrow's expression showed that confronting Az with him was about the last thing they wanted to do, but they didn't get a chance to say anything about it before they were interrupted. "Sorry. I think you'll want to see this," Owl leaned forward, holding the newspaper out for Harrow to take. They unfolded it, eyes scanning the headlines, and went pale. "..I need to go," Harrow said, anger seemingly forgotten in the moment. Wordlessly, they handed the paper to Enn: a new monster had appeared, in the Whispering Sea. A huge storm full of.. bones, apparently.

Enn
The shift in atmosphere was surprising, hadn't thought it was possible for it to become even colder. But he took the newspaper with a confused expression, eyes instantly on the news of another monster. Third one in such a short span of time, what was happening? The Whispering Sea. He knew Harrow was from there. "How are you going to get there in time?" Enn questioned out loud, still scanning the newspaper.

Harrow
While he read they turned their attention to all the things they needed for a monster-hunting trip to the Whispering Sea. Their bow of course, that was already ready to go. Clothes- they needed to do some laundry. Food, camping supplies, rope, their armor… Harrow walked away to hurriedly look for what they needed. “I don’t know. I’ll figure something out.” They sounded preoccupied, rummaging through a trunk. “I’ll need to pick up some things first, but maybe I can find a ride.. somewhere.”

Enn
Sigh. He folded the newspaper and watched Harrow start to rummage about. He had an idea, though he was unsure of how true he could make on his promise. "I can get you a ride." But he'd find a way. He always did. "I know a mage who owes me one, who's magic could pull off a teleportation feat." He continued, putting down the newspaper on a table. "Let me help. It's the least I can do."

Harrow
They paused, thinking about it. They still felt mad but… Teleportation would be very convenient indeed, and the sooner they could get there the better—they had to make sure their folks were okay. “..Fine. Give me a day to get everything together.”
