Chapter 1

A ferocious blizzard was falling over the mountainous terrain turning the landscape completely white as far as the eye could see, the wind roared loudly, blocking out any other sound that could be heard in the midst of the blizzard, not a soul could be seen for miles and miles, except that of a tiefling with long messy brown hair, black horns, and a muscular body covered in scars.

The man struggles forward with snow up to his waist, accumulating faster. With slow, heavy steps, the man advances, his empty and tired red eyes focused on the horizon in front of him. With each step he takes his breath seems weaker and his body staggers, his vision getting increasingly blurred by the second and every inch of his body throbbing in pain from exertion, hunger, or fatigue, not even he could tell. The man stumbles once again, losing his balance but supporting himself with his hands in the icy snow, pausing for a few seconds breathing with difficulty, but then getting up and continuing on his way.

Behind him a semi-transparent figure more than twice his size, with completely black skin, just like his hair and horns, but red eyes that glow brightly even in the midst of the storm, follow him floating a few feet behind, his gaze focused on the tiefling with a neutral expression, not saying a word about the situation, just observing the smaller one’s effort.

After a few minutes? Or maybe hours? In the midst of that storm time seemed to either pass too quickly or not at all, the brown-haired man struggles through the snow, his breathing increasingly uneven and weak, his gaze clouded and ice crystals forming on his body due to the low temperature of that place, until, with a last breath of air, the man falls in the middle of the snow and stops moving, quickly starting to be covered with snow.

Hey, kid. - the demon calls, approaching the smaller one. - If you stop now you’re gonna die of hypothermia, get up. - he warns, crouching beside the tiefling, but it gets no answer back.

The demon stares at the man's motionless body, his expression slowly changing from neutral to worried.

Hey. - he calls once more, materializing his hand to shake the tieflings body, in order to wake him up, but he doesn't move.

The demon sighs deeply, sitting down in front of the smaller one, using his own body, blocking the snow from covering the smaller one even more, and rapidly starting to accumulate on his back instead.

You know, I never understood why you do this, why you keep hurting yourself like this for all these years to help those who treat you lower than a dog, those who never stopped to think about why you keep not killing anyone, that... - the demon sighs once more, running his hand over the tieflings face.

With the touch, all the snow on the tieflings body quickly melts, and his skin begins to gain color again, with the sound of air being cut, three pairs of huge completely black wings appear from the demon's back, which with a quick movement grabs the tiefling and lifts itself up, a slight empathetic smile growing at the corner of its mouth while staring at the unconscious tiefling in his arms, followed by a sigh.

I really don't know what else to do with you kid. - says the demon, followed by a light chuckle from the corner of his mouth.

The demon then flies at light speed until it is out of the storm, leaving the icy terrain behind and starting to approach a greener environment, and stops as soon as it sees a cave, heading towards it and stopping at the entrance.

Yellow eyes begin to appear from the depths of the cave first two, then six, finally fifteen, and a huge creature with the body of a centipede, the torso of a man, and the head of a wolf rises from the darkness and charges at the demon. Tch how dare you look at me with those filthy eyes.- the demon proclaims with his teeth clenched in anger and with a snap of his fingers, the creature stops, bursting into flames a second later, turning into ashes at the demon's feet, completely dead.

Still with the tiefling in his arms, the demon enters the cave and lays the tiefling on one of the walls, covering him with the cloak that the demon was wearing, and with a snap of his fingers, he makes a firepit appear in front of him.

Ah yes, he needs food. - in a second the demon disappears and reappears with a huge dead wild pig in his arms, which he puts to cook on the fire, as well as some sort of vase with water filling it to the top.

The demon then sits next to the still unconscious tiefling and after running his hand over his face one last time, looking into his closed eyes, the demon starts to become more and more transparent until he returns to the form he was in before the smaller one became unconscious.

I know you have a goal, but you have to treat yourself kid, I don't want you... I don’t... like to see you hurt yourself like this over and over. - he says with a sigh, putting his hand to his chest while looking at the smaller one once more, before becoming completely invisible.
