She had not been sent to fight the monster herself, nor had she argued against the decision to be stationed at Namarast. For once, she had not been as eager to dive into danger for the good of her beloved nation, instead leaving it to those mages stronger than her and with more offensive powers. Besides, deep down, she was not ready to face another monster already - or anyone for that matter. Instead, she stayed back in the King's Guard. Here she was needed and here she could help. The destruction that the recent monster had brought had not gone unnoticed by her nor anyone else in the vicinity, that much was clear. Rumours spread like a wildfire, accusations and doubts on the work of the Order and whether it had been enough. Or if something else had been to blame.

Elouan herself had tried to stay out of it, as much as it was possible. She had not wished to partake in those discussion or start doubting the nation's authorities. But it was also impossible not to be influenced by those she respected most, like Shepard. Although her captain rarely let his personal feelings be known, she was not unable to pick up on the subtle hints he gave at times. A tense shoulder, a scowl crossing his face or the dissatisfied look being dragged further into politics than he would have liked. On that account, Elouan agreed. She had never been a big fan of politics, how they worked, instead focusing her energy at what she was good at. She fought not for a single cause, even if the King's Guard might have one. She knew Shepard well enough to know, that he wasn't pleased with being involved too much either.

And Elouan agreed, when people reacted to Archon Miriam's name with a scowl. For was it not her, who had deemed rogue mages dangerous rather than welcoming them for training or simply avoiding giving mages a dangerous reputation? Perhaps, if she had not been so obsessed with the witch finders, then mages would be more likely to step up for the Order, volunteer themselves for the better of Ivras. Or if anything, be more likely to help when monsters arose rather than hiding, knowing they were hunted simply for not being with the Order.
