Struck Out

It was strange, unsettling.

Existing in a world that forgot you was like nothing Jasper Keay could have ever imagined, isolating and uncomfortable. It made them frustrated– No, it made them mad. They were angry. Angry at the world, at the hero system, at themself. They failed, and the world failed them in turn.

Jasper Keay was no longer Screen Print, family-friendly hero of the people. For all intents and purposes, they were dead. Dead to the world, to themself, to everyone. No longer a household name, hardly even a name at all. They didn’t even have their powers or even their family, let alone the wealth and fame.

Jasper was alone. Struck out of existence at their peak.

A similar thing could be said about the Golden Guardian, the young teen that Jasper had tried so hard but failed to connect to.
