Crowning Treasures

Making sure the hook was lodged, Love gave the rope a couple good tugs before he made his way up and over the fence. Creeping around the gently glowing lights, he made it to the building in the ground's corner without too much trouble. For most, getting inside was the hardest part, but for him, the exits tended to be more troublesome because of his troublemaker tendencies. Leaving trails, alerting people on purpose, tripping alarms, it was never much fun unless there was a little bit of spice to make a security team sweat.

Today, there was something juicy inside, but that wasn't his target. A beautiful crown inlaid with crystal rubies. Gold and silver lining its crest, it was a sight to behold in the light for the next monarch said to take the throne tomorrow. While it was here under protection, Love was planning on an easier heist, after a smaller magic wand said to contain multiple spells instead of just one. He wasn't expecting much, but it was interesting enough for him to check it out while the getting was good. There were a few more miscellaneous items and papers he was thinking about trying to snag for Anselik, but that was more of a side project if he could get away with more.

“It is as beautiful in person as I was told, quite a treasure to be had.” Thief mused, balanced higher up on one of the rafters that no one tended to look up to even when rather expensive items were on the line. He was currently in a sitting position, tail curled around the beam as well as he watched the smaller ant sized people creep back and forth ‘on guard’ for any intruders. If he was there more for pleasure, he’d be less worried, but alas much of his life was business in these busier seasons.

A simple task really, get the crown of rubies that was on display. His employer desired it in their own hands before it reached its end area. Why? He never asked details but knowing the price sure could draw some attention from both good and bad parties. A crown once worn by the queen of blood, a ruthless ruler who someone had quite the favoritism of her land. He knew textbook information, but never had the desire to see it in person. There were also rumors that it was enchanted, but alas his intrigue ended as he realized it was just a simple charisma spell on it. Maybe there was once more, but now just a pretty object that wasn’t even that magically interesting. A shame all the way around.

“Well, suppose I should get to work.” He had already turned off the invisible lasers and alarms, the real reason he had been up there to begin with. Waiting for the guard to walk by on his patrol, he dropped down as a small gust of air quieted his fall. From there it was easy pickings, opening the glass and taking the crown before shutting it once more and heading back the way he came.

Though, nothing was ever easy. He learned this in his younger years while under the care of his fathers. Traveling through the area that was left unguarded, he paused as he saw a pointed tail vanish around a corner. Could it be? Humming, he supposed there was only one way to find out.

Strolling right through the halls as if he belonged there, Love was now sporting one of the security team's hats. Something he had picked up recently, was that duck tape was a very useful tool to make sure someone was quiet for awhile, plus leave a bad aftertaste. Sure that the guard would be amazed once they found that out too, he was breezing on by towards the filing area with wand in hand. Really, they must care far too much about some silly crown to leave a single guard on duty over the smaller items this far out.

Not expecting anything too hazardous, the worst he had to deal with was hopping over a couple trip wires and avoiding pressure plates on his way. They didn't even come up to his standard breakout night at home. He wasn't about to wish himself in anyone's shoes if they were after the main event tonight. Though little did he know, such a person was already tailing him.

Coming up to the documentation room, he scanned it over for traps. Without a whiff, he knelt to the ground to start popping the locks, already thinking about which alarms he should trip on his way out.

On the tail of this new interest, he hoped the guards were lax enough today they gave him some time to indulge. Watching that tail turn around a corner he stayed for a moment and watched as they kneeled down to start picking at the lock. Watching for a few seconds, he came out as quietly as he had been trailing them, moving aside their tools and hand to jingle a set of keys in that familiar face he had been hoping to see again.

“Long time, no see. You are looking as gorgeous as last I saw you.” Leaning on the wall, he too was at home in the world of skipping over traps and dancing through the dangers. He had been through much worse, but despite the high end items on the line it was rather lax. He’d even be pressed to say it was harder sneaking into a library at night time, not even one of those fancy ones. “What is a pretty little rogue like you doing here? Hopefully not after any gold and shiny items?”

Tensing up as soon as something moved into the edge of his vision, Love was quick to simply abandon his tools inside the keyhole in favor of making distance. He was best at mid range combat, but it wasn't a security officer that had caught him in the act. It had been a few days already, but it'd take more than that to forget the kidnapper in front of him now. Breathing a sigh of relief, his stance relaxed with one hand on hip, and a smirk spreading across his face. "Thanks~ I like to keep tidy. Could say the same about you." With the joking, though, came that brief memory of the last time he had seen the thief, a bit of dark tint coloring his face at the thought.

Not something he'd linger on here. Despite the lack of patrol so far from the crown, he didn't need the extra distraction. Instead, Love went back to the door to pull his tools out and gesture to it. "Course not. I don't have a use for any kinda crown, way too much work too for a decoration. Before a certain concussion causer came in, I was about to check out some not shiny materials. Since you stopped me, did you want to head in first?"

“I suppose you would be right, it does fetch a pretty penny for that ruffian lifestyle I hear you indulge in. Though I suppose I can’t play you, life does get boring when stuck inside the walls of even the biggest estates.” Taking the key and putting it in, Thief ran his hand along the top of the door until he found a pair of wires

“Would be so much easier if I just found the control box, but that is a bit more effort than I’m willing for a pretty face I can’t even touch as I please.” His gloved fingers pulled two wires, a red and bright pink pair that were twinned together. Grabbing a smaller knife from his pocket, he couldn’t help but tease the other

“Have I ever mentioned I’m not good at telling colors, hopefully this is the red wire or who knows what alarms will be set off.” He wasn’t, but it wasn’t as if Love would know that. He of course grabbed the bright pink wire with the knife, cutting it as the light above the door flashed for a moment. Love about to run gave him a good chuckle, but grabbing a hold of him he unlocked the door with ease and took the keys back. “I kid, that would be a terrible thing in this line of work. Could you imagine?”

Pushing open the door, he made way for Love to head in. “I’m afraid I can’t read minds, so it's best you search for what you want.”

Rolling his eyes, it was more at Love's own thoughts than the thief's words, "Ugh, you don't know the half of it." While his parents tried to keep him from boredom, they simply couldn't bring the limitless possibilities that happen outside into the mansion. Especially considering how their son liked to shake life up a little.

As hilarious as a color blind thief sounded, it wasn't something he was too keen on trying to imagine. Love was absolutely ready to ditch the other as soon as he realized there wasn't a way for him to stop them. In fact, he even gave a jerk when his arm was grabbed all of a sudden. Not quite used to more friendly quick movements, even Anselik wasn't the type to touch him without provocation first, and he could expect those from playing around. He wasn't used to hanging around anyone as spontaneous or troublesome as himself, was this what they called karma?

Chilling out since it was clearly just a prank bro, he strutted past the thief, batting their arm briefly in response for the trick. "Thaaaanks. Why don't you tell me what in the world you're doing here while I look? Don't tell me you came here for the easy picks too? Cause one of them's already gone and you'll have to sweet talk me real nice to give it up." Heading straight for the shelves, there wasn't anything in particular he was after. Merely picking out folders to flip through briefly for any information he might want out of their system, or something to copy down that his friend would be interested in knowing ahead of time.

“Oh I don’t, but I’ve had my fair share of moments with those who live more lavishing lives. I’m not one to kiss and tell though, secrets are best left as that.” Some were passing moments, people he was sent to steal away for some reason or another, but it was common for him to gain the attention of those people looking for something a little more interesting and ‘spicy’ as they often called it.

Watching Love head in, he leaned on the door as he watched him look through the shelves, enjoying that sight for a moment before heading in too. It was so ungentlemanly of him to keep someone like love waiting, though the waiting did make the end goal all that more delicious at times. Running a single finger along some of the wood inlays in the wall, he thought over the question as if it was a real debate.

“Oh no, I came for... what you could call the crowning glory. A job asked me to do so and I was intrigued as it was said to be magical. Not all that interesting in the end, still a shame now even as I think about it.” Watching Love look through the paperwork, he leaned on one of the empty stands to watch his tail sway. “Was just on my way out when I spotted a little devil, just thought I’d stop by and say hello.”

Glancing over for a pen, Love brought one of the folders over to.. adjust, a few numbers. There were times when being a noble came in handy, knowing which lines would be affecting the next trade meetings for discussion. Hopefully with this little tebbit, Anselik would be pleased enough to casually forget how much they lost during the rescue party. He wasn't busy enough not to catch the other's words however, given the most important item in the area.

Setting the folder back where it came from, he leaned his hands on the shelf, head hung down to stare at the floor before he turned around to the thief, putting his hands back together in front of his face. "....Please tell me you didn't take what I think you did." Waiting, but only getting that pretty pretty smile from the other, Love took in a long breath through his nose. "Thanks for stayin hey," he took a step closer to the door, "always great seeing a handsome face," another step, a little longer this time, "hope we meet again and all that," Aaaand time to dash, "I am so out of here*."

Of course, he wasn't about to leave quietly either. Rather than heading in, he was heading out, so he might as well let everyone else start to panic if the thief really did steal what he thought they did. Simply running right over one of the pressure plates in the hall, they'd be double checking for the crown, aaaand probably trying to lock everyone in by the time he gets out.

“Alright, I won’t.” Leaving it at that, Love could make what connections he wanted with what info he gave. He didn’t ever say what he took, which if push came to shove he’d say he kept his words.

As love dashed out of there, Thief could only watch in disappointment. He was hoping for a little more touch before the go, but alas it was time to depart. He could hear guards start searching the rooms, the crown notices as missing and that was his cue to leave as well.

“Well, a window works I suppose.” Pulling himself onto the window sill he pulled himself right out the opening and was headed back up where he left his open gate. He would have to butter up his parents later to get more but that he thought it was worth it. They sold for quite the pretty penny and he got all them for free from his loving connections.
