❛❛These are my new brothers I told you about!❜❜

It was Kiyung’s first day of eighth grade. He’d never really been to school before - let alone a high school - and wasn’t really sure where to go or what to do. He’d been home-schooled by his new adoptive mother for a couple of years before she thought they’d be ready for a new schooling experience and he couldn’t say he was thrilled.

When he arrived at Hillview High, he never really got the chance to take it all in before Lauren had him and Jae pulled close to either side of her as she introduced them to her friends. Ki recognised one of the girls - Vanessa - as Lauren had her sleep over plenty of times during their primary schooling, and Caleb as their English tutor - Travis’ - brother, but the others were all new to him.

He wasn’t the only one who was nervous. He gave a quick and awkward glance over to his brother, who was shifting on the spot. He didn’t really want to be here either. Jaehyuk seemed to keep looking off to a table nearby and Ki didn’t know why until he realised that’s where Travis was sitting.

His brother whispered something to Lauren and promptly excused himself so he could sit with him. Ki sighed. He wished he had friends he could escape to so he could avoid this awkward exchange too.

❛❛He’s cute as hell, isn’t he?❜❜

A loud voice broke Ki from his thoughts and he looked at Lauren, confused. She didn’t seem happy.

❛❛Fuck off Isaiah, don’t you even dare start this shit,❜❜ she snapped.

What was the problem? It was just a compliment, right? There was nothing wrong with those was there? He got complimented by his adoptive family all the time, so why was this one different?

Thankfully, Lauren seemed to catch on to his confusion and she let out a long sigh, ❛❛sorry Ki, he’s a sleaze. Just ignore him.❜❜

❛❛W… what does that mean?❜❜ he asked in response, in a voice so quiet that she could barely hear him.

❛❛Uh, don’t worry. Just don’t listen to him, okay?❜❜

❛❛Hm… okay.❜❜

Isaiah looked offended by that exchange but kept his mouth shut. He’d decided to try talking to Kiyung at a different point in time. Preferably when the demon sister wasn’t around to stop him.
