A response to slander
An Open Investigation from the Little Nightsovania Youth Council Candidates
The actions of one Hermes Parcelrumpus have caused a stir in the Bunbat community of Little Nightsovania. Their reporting during this current Bunbat election has been much more prolific, coming out at a higher pace than usual. However, several electoral candidates have vocalized concern over these publications due to one controversial talking point: that each and every expose targeted at other young Bunbats campaigning has been accused of being falsified.
As for what we hold to be true, this is libel- pure and simple. And if that is true, it means Parcelrumpus’ gazette cannot be trusted for news about the campaign until the dust is settled. The candidates affected (North Dreamweaver, Emilienne Scarletwing, Carlos Squashfur, and Basil Largebrain) have made a call for a moratorium on all Pacelrumpus campaign-related postings or, at the very least, an acknowledgement and warning of the misinformation spread by this candidate and their paper.
And evidence seems to imply that these are indeed falsehoods lobbed at the other candidates, which does call into question both Parcelrumpus’ pride and integrity. Besmirching the names of other lineages should only be acceptable if there is merit to said claims. But how do we know that these claims are false, one may ask? Well, Basil Largebrain had this to say:
“It was more than obvious to anyone who was in contact with my family that I have a medical exemption from taking handwritten notes. My father has the agreement letters stating my special need for an ergonomic keyboard, as do my LSA and the headmaster of the school. So, for ParcelRumpus to insist I had taken a written test, much less utterly fail, was a poor choice on their behalf from the very start.“
Compelling evidence to be sure, with a verifiable paper trail. And confirmed it has been as a medical exemption has been found. So… lies then? In fact, further looks into the topic have found the attack on Emilienne Scarletwing was done using a doctored photo, as well as completely overexaggerated statements leaning towards falsehoods. This must be a large blow to an already shamed name.
We decided to ask more of the alleged victims of the libel parade for their opinion and anything she wanted to say to our readers. This was Emilienne’s response.
“So there we are, dear readers. The facts laid out before you, as they are, and not as they have been previously, and falsely, presented by The Parcelrumpus Gazette.”
Hopefully, this will not only clear the reputation of those who have had their names and the names of their families slandered, but also provide a lesson to all about how much trouble can be caused by one bat acting in bad faith, especially within a media as trusted as a newspaper. Be wary of what you read, and what stories you choose to believe. What are the sources of the sources you get your information from? The information presented here, all comes straight from the victims of this campaign of libel. All innocent of the behaviour they are accused of. All upstanding young Bunbats.
After having exposed the lies, and presented the facts within this article, hopefully, you will not only choose to believe the truth, but keep it in mind when the time comes to cast your vote at the end of the month.
When asked for a statement on if Hermes’ statements were hurting the community, Carlos Squashfur replied with “Yep.” Truly a man of few words. As for North Dreamweaver… as of this report, he has not yet been able to leave a comment.
This concludes this statement by many perturbed individuals against one Hermes Parcelrumpus. A warning to those who turn to the papers, that they don’t always reflect the facts. Especially if written under the name ParcelRumpus. Will Hermes cease their libel? We shall have to wait and see.
