The one that got away

Thabica ran through the town gates at top speed. She dared a glance behind her and grinned widely. Things were going according to plan, the giant, six-foot-long creature of destruction had followed her after she had destroyed its nest and it was starting to gain on her. She couldn't run too fast or she would lose the queen Maroctermes, but if she moved to slow she risked being snapped in two by its enormous pincers.

Facing forward again she passed under the city gate and loudly shouted, "Oh my stars! Someone please save me! A queen is after me and I can't run much farther, please!!! She is almost upon me!" She put her hand over her head and feigned exhaustion by stumbling forward and quickly flicking her eyelids open and closed. She glanced about the town and saw a number of Animalian grabbing weapons and rushing to her aid. 

It took all her effort not to grin, she loved it when plan worked out. "Oh no!" She cried out, allowing herself to fall to the ground. A few Animalian rushed to her side attempting to pull her to her feet, Thabica doing absolutely nothing to help them. From behind her she head a loud crash noise as the queen burst through the town gates, her head thrashing around as she attempted to tear down everything in site. "Anyone, everyone! Help! We must work together to take down this creature or she will take us out!" She allowed herself to be pulled to her feet as she backed away from the queen, Thabica's hand on her head as she shouted, "please, everyone help!"

She took a moment to glance around and saw that nearly all the towns folk of this tiny town had come out of their homes with weapons drawn. As they circled the queen like a bunch of tiny Macrotermes workers on strike. The queen wouldn't last to long against their combined might, her brother would need to be fast. Thabica looked around the town again trying to spot him, it took her a sec, but out of the corner of her eye she saw the tip of his ears darting around each of the town's folks home. In order for him to get anything good she would need to buy him a bit more time.

Taking a deep breath Thabica pulled a small dagger out of its sheith on her leg and charged towards the queen attempting to be as loud and noticeable as possible. "I'll teach you for trying to mess with us!" She then ran right into the queens coils allowing the large bug to warp its strong body around her. "oh no!" She shouted as the dagger fell from her hand into the coils as well. The towns folk started to shout louder, as they got even more angery at the queen. As they continued to attack the queen each stab and slash their attacks came slower then before as they attempted not to hit Thabica with their weapons.

It wasn't the most comfortable place for Thabica to be, the queens sharp pincers floating above her head, the tight grip of the queens large body around her and the town's folks weapons getting far to close to her for comfort. However she knew how to doge the queen's bites so there was no danger there, and it forced the towns folk to focus more on their attacks and less on what was going on behind them, so that's what mattered.

"You can do it!" She cried out encouragingly to the towns folk, "You have her pinned." Thabica dodged an incoming arrow she wiggled the dagger that she had dropped earlier in the queens coils down to her paw. She was fairly sure the towns folk could take out the queen before it tightened its grip to much, but just in case she wanted to be ready. She continued to cry out to towns folk words of inspiration mixed with begging words asking for them to save her. Eventually, one of the towns folk landed a deadly hit and caused the coils around Thabica to losen as the queens body fell to the ground. 

As the crowd cheered Thabica climbed ontop of the queen's coils, her eyes quickly scanned the inside of the houses behind the group of victorious Animalian. She couldn't see her brother rummaging around any more...hopefully he had made it out unnoticed. She smiled at the townsfolk in front of her and raising her arm up in the air and shouted, "That's what you get you gient creature! You should know better than to mess with us Megalotis! Our ancestors won the fight against you centuries ago, we won today and we will win every time!" The crowd shouted around her raising their weapons up in the air as well in triumph. Jumping off the Macrotermes Thabica pointed to the lifeless creature, "It is only right now to make a feast out of our kill. Come! Let us cook her and eat!" The crowd cheered even louder. 

As the town went about preparing the meal Thabica milled around for a little bit before slipping out the front gate making sure no one had followed her.
