New friends in Sprout tower || Chapter 2

It’s the official first day of my new adventure… And I am so excited to finally start this journey! Hmm, now where do I go first…? Right now I was in Cherrygrove city. I need to check the map on my Pokegear to see what the next city is… So, looks like the next city is called Violet city… Ooh, and there’s a Pokémon gym there too! Yeah, that sounds good.

I made my way down the next route, where I ran into and battled a few trainers… I even ended up exchanging numbers with a few trainers that I battled too, including this one kid named Joey, who kept talking about how his Rattata was in the top percentage of Rattata or something, I don’t know… Anyways, after battling some trainers, I finally arrived in Violet city! It was getting late now though, and I could tell that Cyndaquil was getting exhausted from all the battles we had, so I decided to rest at the Pokémon center, Cyndaquil laying down in bed with me, as I gently stroked his head.

“Hey, don’t worry, Cyndaquil… I know today was a bit of a rough day, but tomorrow will be easier… And hey, who knows? Maybe we can catch some new teammates tomorrow too…”

The next morning…

Woo, a new day! And of course, first thing in the morning, my mom called me, asking me a bunch of questions and making sure I was alright…

“Yes mom, I brushed my teeth this morning, too… Ok, I’ll talk to you later! Bye!” I hung up the Pokegear, leaving the Pokémon center. “So many things to do… Ooh, maybe I could challenge the gym first?! No wait, I need to slow down… If I’m gonna challenge the gym… I need to catch some new teammates first!

“Hey Cyndaquil, you ready to catch some new friends?”

“Cynda…? Quil! Quil!” Cyndaquil smiled, excitedly jumping up and down.

“Awesome! Race you to the next route!” Me and Cyndaquil ran over to the next route, looking over at the tall grass, where I could already see some wild Pokémon crawling around.

“Oh my gosh, this is so exciting! Who should I catch first…?” I scanned the grass carefully, my gaze fixating on one Pokémon…

The Pokédex says it’s called a Hoppip… Ooh, yes! I’m catching this one…

“Alright, Cyndaquil, use Tackle on that Hoppip!!”

Cyndaquil charged forward and attacked, knocking the Hoppip to the ground…

“Alright, time to capture you! Poke ball… Um…Uhhhh…”

I reached into my pockets and my bag, then realized something…

“I DON’T HAVE ANY POKE BALLS!!”

“Hoppip! Pip!” The Hoppip quickly stood back up, then running away. Aw geez… How could I forget to buy Poke balls?! I’m so dumb… Well, time to head to the Pokemart then.

Sometime later…

I quickly ran over to the Pokemart and bought some Poke balls, running back over to the route. Ok, now I’m REALLY ready this time… Who do I capture first…? Ooh!

A Rattata! I could capture it, and battle Joey’s Rattata with it… This is perfect!

“Alright… YOU’RE MINE, RATTATA!! GET EM, CYNDAQUIL!!”

“QUIIIIIIILL!!” Cyndaquil charged at the Rattata, the Rattata dodging Cyndaquil.

“Oh no you don’t…” I chased after the Rattata, but accidentally tripped and fell down, and by the time I got back up… The Rattata was gone.

“Man… I’m not that good at this…”

“Cynda…” Cyndaquil patted me on the leg… “Cynda? Quil! Quil!” Cyndaquil then started squeaking in a frenzy, pointing to something in the grass.

“Hm? What is it…” I could then see what Cyndaquil was pointing at…

There was a Pokémon watching us from the grass… And the Pokédex says it was a Mareep.

“Oh… My… GOSH YOU ARE SO CUTE!! EEEEK I NEED TO CAPTURE YOU!! Ok, wait a minute, I need to stay calm…” I took a deep breath, standing back up. “Alright, let’s do this for real now, Cyndaquil! Use Tackle!”

Cyndaquil attacked the Mareep, the Mareep starting to run away. “Chase after it, Cyndaquil! Don’t let it get away!”

Cyndaquil chased after Mareep, tackling it once again… The Mareep then starting rolling around in the grass, stopping on its back as it tried to wriggle around.

“Ok, nows my chance… Poke ball, GO!!” I chucked a Poke ball at the Mareep, as it went inside of it…

…3 shakes…

Click!

“Oh my gosh… YES, WE DID IT!! YEAH!!” I quickly ran over and grabbed Mareep’s Poke ball, opening up and bringing Mareep out. “Hi, Mareep! Welcome to the team! I’m so glad to have you…”

“Mareep? Eep!” Mareep happily baaed, as I picked him up and hugged him.

“Oh my gosh… You are so fluffy and soft!!”

“Eeep…” Mareep happily purred, Cyndaquil also jumping onto my lap as I hugged him as well. The two Pokémon then jumped out of my lap, playfully chasing each other around.

“Aw, I’m glad you two are getting along… Hey, you two wanna go and challenge the gym now?”

“Cynda!” “Mareep!” The two Pokémon excitedly nodded.

“Awesome! Let’s go!“

I quickly ran over to the gym, walking into the building, and up to an employee at the front desk of the waiting room.

“Hey, future champ in the making! You must be here to challenge the gym leader, correct?” The employee asks.

“Yup! I sure am.”

“Awesome! You’re quite welcome then… Or, you almost are. You see, this city has a tower known as Sprout Tower, where’s trainers will go to test their strength… The gym leader Falkner would like trainers to challenge Sprout tower first before entering the gym, to make sure you’re ready…”

“Ooooh, so it’s like a test then? Alright, I get it! I’ll come back later then! Thank you!” I quickly left the gym, where I could quickly see the Sprout tower nearby… Hmm… Maybe I should train a bit first before I go there? Yeah, I’ll do that.

Sometime later…

I took the time to train Cyndaquil and Mareep for a while. I probably went a bit overboard with the training though, because by the time I was done, the sun had now went down. I didn’t really feel like waiting until tomorrow though to visit the tower, so I still made my way into the tower, fighting a few trainers as I slowly made my way up. It was weird, though… The entire time I was in the tower, I felt like I was being… Watched? Or followed? Well, my suspicions ended up being correct, when…

“GAAAAST!!” A Pokemon suddenly appeared out of nowhere… And my Pokédex says it was called a Gastly.

“Whoa, wait a minute… Are you a ghost type Pokémon?! Oh my gosh, I NEED to capture you! Quick Cyndaquil, use Ember!!”

Cyndaquil quickly attacked the Gastly. I then grabbed a Pokeball, chucking it at the Gastly as it went inside…

…1 shake…

…2 shakes…

…3 shakes…

Click!

“Oh my gosh… YES!! We caught another team member! WOO!!” I quickly grabbed Gastly’s poke ball, opening it up as Gastly popped out next to Mareep and Cyndaquil. “Welcome to the team, Gastly! You all ready to reach the top of the tower?” I asked, all of my Pokémon nodding in agreement. “Cool… Theh let’s do this!”

Sometime later…

After a few more fights, we managed to make our way to the top of the tower, where I could see this old man, talking to someone that I recognized… It was Silver. I quickly hid behind the pillar, overhearing the conversation.

“You’ve showed us what you got, and it is indeed good…” The man says. “Here, take this technical machine… However, you should care more about your Pokémon. The way you treat your Pokémon can be too harsh. Remember, Pokémon are not tools of war…”

“Pfft, you think that matters to me? That kind of talk is weak.” Silver snaps back. “All I care about are the strong Pokémon that win every time… The rest of them don’t mean anything to me.”

And with that, Silver walked away, leaving the room without noticing me. Yeesh, he really thinks of Pokémon as just tools to him? I’m not a fan of that…

“Hey, you over there…” The man spoke, pointing over to me. “Don’t be shy, you can come out of hiding.”

“Ah, sorry about that…” I say, stepping out as I approached him.

“It’s no worries…” The man says. “So, are you here to battle me? There’s a lot of trainers that come here to battle, to test the bond between them and their Pokémon…”

“Yup! Sure am! I’ve already defeated all the other trainers in here.” I respond.

“Good. I’ll be your final test then…” The man says. “It’s time to test our your bond!”

Ara: “Alright, you’ve got this, Cyndaquil! Use Ember!”

Elder: “Use Vine Whip!”

Ara: “Now, use Tackle!”

Cyndaquil’s last attack then knocked out Bellsprout.

Elder: “Go, Hoothoot! Use Peck!”

Ara: “Use Ember!”

Elder: “Now use Hypnosis!”

Ara: “Dodge it! Then use Ember again!”

And with that, Hoothoot was also knocked out.

Elder: “Go, Bellsprout! Use Vine Whip!”

Ara: “Dodge it! Then use Ember one last time!”

Cyndaquil’s Ember did a lot of damage… Knocking out the last Bellsprout with one hit.

“Oh wow… You did amazing, Cyndaquil! Nice job! I patted Cyndaquil on the head, who smiled happily up at me.

“The way you battle is quite elegant, child…” The man says, smiling as he walked up to me with a TM. “Here, take it. It’s a TM for a move called Flash…”

“Ooh, thank you so much…” I say, taking the TM from him.

“Of course… I can tell you’re definitely ready for Falkner now.” The man says. “And I can tell that you’ve raised your Pokémon with great care.”

“Really? It’s kind’ve funny, but I’ve only really had these Pokémon for a day or so, actually…” I respond.

“Interesting… I’m sure you all will grow incredibly stronger together then…” The man says. “Good luck in your further training.”

“Oh, um… Yeah. Thank you.”

Woah, is my team already that strong…? That’s amazing. I’ve only just met and captured these three recently, but I already feel like I’m starting to build up the best Pokémon team ever! Oh man…

I can’t wait to take on the gym tomorrow!
