As the day slowly turned to night, the waves crashed and receded back into the Starwell sea all the same. Each star poked through the darkening sky like a pin as the pink-to-orange gradient dissipated to make way for the universe’s true colors to shine through. To add more colors to the decaying day, the late-stayed beach goers lay in wait with glow sticks and other trinkets for a fireworks show to light off one last night of shared company and fun.

Among the small crowd sat a group of three, all huddled together on overlapped towels with drinks or ice cream in hand. A few stray grains of sand found homes in the fur and feathers of the painted satyr and two browbirds while the scent of the sea drifted through the air.

Consus took a sip of his iced tea before leaning back onto Vatos’ side.

“So… it’s really almost over? Our stay here?”

The taller browbird gave a little smile and looked up at the shifting sky.

“We only planned loosely enough to stay for a few weeks. If anything, we've made the most outta our time. Summer’s kinda coming to a close n’ we’d better get back.”

Boingo chimed in after taking a sip of his own drink through a large straw; one leg propped over another.

“At least we get to have this - they said there were gonna be fireworks and everything tonight! Not sure about you guys, but I think we really lucked out at Starwell. Stuff like this comes and goes anyways, doesn’t it?”

After smiling a little and stretching out, Vatos lightly grabbed Consus and scooted closer to Boingo, who immediately shifted to lay his head on Vatos’ thigh. The scaled bird took a bite of his ice cream before staring out across the Starwell sea.

“Of course it does - but it was nice to get out and spend some time with my buds, yaknow?”

Consus sighed and looked up at Vatos, but before he could say much, explosive sounds and bright flashes filled the sky above them. The fireworks were bright and colored like that of the Starwell theme, which made the audience of beachgoers talk and happily exclaim their excitement.

Even though the experience had been a somewhat strange one, the trio would not soon forget their time at Starwell.
