This New Feeling

While no one is explicitly mentioned, this poem is about Quailpaw's feelings for Honeypaw, and of course Creameyes is being a bad mother as per usual.

I'm not yet comfortable with the word

The word that fits you and me

I'm not yet comfortable with the word,

But I know the feeling of love that drew it forth

When I look at the sky now, I look at it for you

Your smile blows me away like a soft breeze,

The sound of your voice is my favorite noise

I think I may understand this new feeling

But I'm not yet comfortable with the word

Her words hurt me

Too much neglect will do that

Skew the sap's passage, blacken leaves, chill the soul like a winter breeze

Everything we have whispered and sung together, all silenced by pouring rain

She hurts me

A mother who is not very motherly

But despite this,

All of this,

I think I may understand this new feeling

Do you understand it, I wish to ask

I feel like we are sparrows still wondering how the jay stole our eggs

It's so confusing for me

I've never felt this way before

When I look at the sky now, I look at it for you

Your smile blows me away like a soft breeze,

The sound of your voice is my favorite noise

I think I may understand this new feeling

But her words have hurt me

I just cannot let her hurt me longer

I need you

Do you need me?
