Leela's phone chimed the same instant she turned her key in the lock--officially closing her cafe for the day. Leaning her back against the door, Leela pulled her phone out of her pocket to check the message.

I'm finally free! ♡✧( •⌄• )
Is that date still on the table??

Leela smiled at the words. Nicolette always had the most perfect timing, usually by complete accident.

"Depends, does decorating the cafe and taste-testing my fall menu count as a date?"

Of course it does!! I'll be there in 15~~~
You better be making us PSLs (ง'̀-'́)ง

"Maybe~~ ☕︎☕︎☕︎"

Don't teaseeeee (--_--)

Chuckling softly, Leela slid her phone back into her pocket. She eyed the assorted equipment behind the counter for a moment, but instead turned her attention to the closet where she kept her collection of seasonal decorations. If she was going to be making at least one more drink it didn't make much sense for her to clean them for the night. Instead she set her attention to preparing for the evening's main event, rummaging in the closet and pulling storage bins out in an attempt to unearth the one she needed.

True to her word, Nicolette knocked on the door 15 minutes later.  Leela hurried over, opening it and letting her in before locking it behind her.

"One Pumpkin Spice Latte, right?" she said by way of greeting.

"Yes!" she chirped, eyes shining with excitement as she bounced from foot to foot.

Leela couldn't help but grin, infected by her girlfriend's enthusiasm. Ruffling Nico's hair before kissing the gold star on her forehead before she moved to the counter to finish their drinks.

Nico followed, wilting across the counter in mock anguish.

"Today was soooooo boring," Nico said.

"What happened, anyway? Wasn't it supposed to just be a short commercial?"

"It was supposed to be, but of course nothing is short." Nico pushed herself upright again. "First they forgot the lens case, then the product stylist had disappeared, then they broke the product and didn't have a spare? How do people always plan so badly?? But anyway, someone had to go get a new one and I'm pretty sure they got lost along the way because they were gone for two hours. At least my agent negotiated some extra money for the absurd amount of time, but sitting all day is not my idea of a good time."

"Oh I don't know," Leela said, twisting to flash Nico a playful smirk. "You didn't complain about sitting in my lap all day.~"

Swiping across the counter with one hand, Nico managed to graze Leela's tail with her fingertips as she turned around to place two mugs on the counter. Nico's eyes immediately locked on the drinks, her hands slowly creeping closer to one of them. She stopped just short of taking it, eyes fixed on Leela as she retrieved a can of whipped cream and topped each

"So?" Leela prompted, still smirking. "Good day, aside from the horrors of sitting?"

Nico puffed out her cheeks, fixing Leela with a pointed stare and pouting. It wasn't long before the coffee in front of her won out, however. Wrapping both hands around the mug, she raised it to her lips and took several small sips.

"Best part of the day," Nico murmured, sighing with contentment. "Your drinks are always perfect."

Shaking her head, Leela took her own mug by the handle and tapped it against Nico's.

"To autumn," she said, the words soft and warm.

"Uhhh, to PSL season, you mean!" Nico said with a grin, and the pair laughed together.
