S2, Mission 1.1 - Team B - A Night on the Town

Your team stands on a busy street, il Viale della Repubblica in Treviso; it's bustling with tourists and locals alike, lined on either side with bars, restaurants, various shops, and other attractions. The sound of laughter and smell of food drifts along the street as people pass to and fro. Today you're looking for any leads on where the demon you're searching for may be hiding, and intelligence has pointed to this street; any information you find will be relayed to Michael and Haskell. 

On one side of the street is a restaurant with outside seating, where a group at one of the tables seems to be causing...a bit of a ruckus? They seem to be flirting with anyone who goes by, regardless of the passerby's discomfort, or how often they're rejected or confronted. Possibly they're drunk, or high, or something. 

Meanwhile, across the street, a different group of roughly 4 people have stationed themselves outside a shop, where they all seem very...wrapped up with themselves, seemingly oblivious to the crowds around them as they kiss, touch, and hold each other, which is obviously its own kind of uncomfortable for bystanders. 

Everything else around seems fairly normal; what will your team do?

Romeo looks around the street. It was never an area he went to if his uncle visited in the past, and now he's sort of thankful for that. Still, this level of... egregious PDA seems off. "...Regardless of your opinions on Italy, people aren't normally this horny out in the street."

Jessica is looking around the street, seeing all these foods and restaurants, and just... feeling hungry all over again. God what she wouldn't do to bite into a pizza right now. The PDA however... she has to hold herself back not to yell out a "get a room".

"This seems more like a Paris thing than it is an Italy thing, so.. this is very um...." Athena shudders a little "but I'm guessing who we're looking for might be within these groups?"

“…I believe you.” Kasper said with a cocked brow at the sight and Romeo’s words, though the ongoing discussion only made him nod in support of what Athena said. “Yeeeaaah. You’ll be surprised.”

Lana chimes in as well, giving the two groups dirty looks “definitely not this aggressive at least…still we have a lead, my money is on the group flirting with strangers, might be easier to get some info out of them?”

Athena grimaces at the thought of approaching that group of people but admits that Lana has a really good point. "They might be loose lipped if we say the right things, really.. but at the same time, them flirting with anything that moves is so off putting..."

Jess sighs. "I feel like the easiest group might be the flirty mcfucks over here though, the other ones look like they're like two seconds away from something illegal."

Athena looks at Kasper and smiles "well, I think I can handle myself a little better these days but yeah, I think we should be fine. The other group seems to preoccupied so I guess we might as well just talk to the ones who at least seem more open to talking." she pauses as Jess says flirty mcfucks and has to hold back a laugh. "Right, I agree.. so.. do we rock paper scissors on who approaches first or do we just go as a group and wing it from there?"

You angels out here looking for a good night, then?” One of the group leans his elbow on the table, giving Eyes to the group as the others lean in behind him, a few of them licking their lips and looking the various team members up and down. “Have a seat with us and we can show you a fun time for sure, you know what I mean?”

The audible "ugh" and eyeroll could not be stopped on time. "I hope they at least make a good snack." Jess murmured under her breath.

Lana joins in, giving the group a warm smile “I think we’ll be ok standing loves, sorry my friend here is a bit…straightforward.”

Athena couldn't quite understand what they were talking about, picking up things from the little Spanish she knew but even then it felt off... she sighs softly

The guy wiggles his eyebrows suggestively, walking his fingers along the table. "Oooh, wanna get to know us better, then? Sure, gorgeous, for you I'm an open book."

Romeo is staring. With the most deadpan expression. His eye may be twitching a little. "....We need to know why you're... like this."

Romeo slowly looks at the others like he's holding back from strangling the guy.

Jess hisses out a nearly inaudible exasperated spanish curse. God. They just sound like every frat boy ever. Gives Romeo a shrug of 'not stopping you'. (perception 17)

While the group was conversing with the weirdos, Kasper tried to look around the folks to see if there was something he needed to note about them or the situation. (Perception: 13+8 = 21)

Athena, not really knowing how to insert herself into the conversation, decided to look around instead and see if she could observe anything about this particular group (PERCEPTION: 20 + 10 = 30)

Lana leans in, trying to draw attention back to herself “More like what you and your friends are doing out here? I imagine you don’t need to sweetalk some tourists just to have a fun time-” (persuasion: 18+2=20)

Perception:

Aside from the obvious flirty vibes, there's a strange sort of feeling surrounding the group - somewhat of a smell, somewhat of just...a feeling. It's not unpleasant, exactly, and doesn't seem like drugs or alcohol, just a bit off somehow.

Persuasion:

The guys laughs and leans towards Lana, eyes drifting a bit. Downwards. "Well, you got that right, beautiful. We just came over from the Nasty Boys Saloon down that way earlier-" jerks his thumb down the street. "And it just put us in a great mood, you know what I'm saying?" He grins. "Maybe your grouchy friend over there should pay it a visit, get him to loosen up a little."

Romeo grabs Lana's arm and pulls her back a bit, glaring at the guy.

Kasper tilted his head at his observation before leaning in to say to the two Italian speakers. “I don’t know what they’re saying, but it doesn’t seem like a drink or something they consumed made them this way… you want to maybe ask them what they were doing before and when they got like this?”

Jess twists her nose and sniffs the air. Was it her vampire senses and how hungry she was messing with her? Or was there something actually off there? She lowered her voice to try to avoid having the flirty guys hearing. "... Is it just my vampire senses acting up, or is there something... off about the air around them? I can't tell..." Her eyes drifted down the street in the direction they pointed.

Athena shakes her head in response to Jess "No, it's not just that. I can... I don't know I can feel that they're off.. so much so that there's a smell coming from them? Like, it's weird I can't explain it.. but it's just off all around.."

Romeo looks over at the others. "They said they came from some Nasty Boys Saloon. Probably a bar or... show place down that way." he motions with his head.

Lana discreetly give Kasper a thumbs up, not taking her eyes off flirty asshole. “Oh yeah, you got something at the saloon for that?” (persuasion 6)

"Maybe we should go check that place out.. it's the closest lead we've gotten so far.."

The guy laughs, leaning back in his seat as the others giggle behind him. "Why not go find out for yourself and then come back and find us, babe? It's a surprise~"

“The…. Nasty Boy Saloon? Creative, I suppose. But we probably should head over there to look for more leads.”

Jess rolls her eyes and follows the group.

“sure thing, thanks for the info darling!” and she winks at the guy before walking off with the team

The guy gives a somehow suggestive chuckle and winks back as the team heads off, before going back to harrassing other passers-by. A little ways down the street in the direction the group at the restaurant indicated, they find a storefront with a hot pink neon sign reading 'Nasty Boys Saloon'. By the look of the decorations, it seems to be a burlesque show place and bar; the team will notice as well that the people leaving seem to be in a similar state to the two groups you observed earlier, seeming drunk or high, or extremely close and touchy. Some couples even seem to be practically running out, hand in hand and giggling, on their way to who knows where. Otherwise, the building seems fairly unremarkable, aside from a doorman dressed in a red suit out at the front. It seems you won't learn more without getting in somehow.

Jess is suddenly hyperaware that she's not breathing. Making a horrified face with a hand on her chest. Staring at the floor. What the fuck.

The doorman looks at him, seeming fairly impassive. "Good evening, sir. Do you have a reservation?"

Romeo blinks and sweats. "A... reservation..." and glances at the group.

Jess snaps out of her existential crisis. "Ask them how do we make one."

Athena looks at Kasper with wide eyes before snorting and lightly hitting his arm. She also notices Jess having an existential crisis and reaches out to gently pat her. Upon hearing about a reservation, Athena was about to pull out her black Amex card to make a statement but then pauses and stops before she even reaches into her bag, looking at Kasper.  "I think this is better off handled by you, oppa.." she says to him in Korean, suddenly feeling more... somber

At a mention of a reservation, Kasper makes a quick knowing glance at Athena and smirks. Looks like their privilege had a job to do…. Though Athena’s following reaction made him… frown. Either way, Kasper saunters up to the bouncer. “Hello, good sir. I believe we have a reservation on the list…” He said while holding out a hand to handshake and sneak in a big euro bill for the bouncer to take. (Persuasion: 18+5= 23)

The bouncer is not looking particularly convinced, but glances down at the bill and casually slides it into his own sleeve, answering in English. "...Of course, sir, I see your name right here. Please enjoy your night." and he steps aside, gesturing for them to enter.

"What the fuck was that" Jess hissed out in spanish.

As they enter the building, they're greeted by what looks almost like a spacious saloon out of an American Western movie, but lit moreso by pink and red neon lights set in a fancy chandelier, with tables and booths scattered around the space for patrons. Loud, 'old-timey' music fills the space, and a stage takes up a significant portion of the next to the bar, where burlesque dancers are currently putting on a lively performance, and scantily-dressed waitresses circulate around the room serving food and drinks. 

Feel free to make a few perception checks to see what you can see, but please note that each character can only make one check!

“This was not at all what I was expecting…” she looks around trying to look for anything that could give them more of a lead (PERCEPTION: 27)

Kasper just snorted at the look of the place. He’s wondering if that one cowboy werewolf he sees walking around HQ would feel closer to home here or not. “I’m mean…. Yeehaw?” he joked before looking around for anything he may need to see. (Perception 17)

The team notices that there seems to be a back area to the main bar, closely guarded by security - a couple of performers enter as they watch and don't come back out, so possibly a place where the performers change, rest, and practice. They notice as well that most of the people here seem to be fairly wealthy, noticeable by either the way that they're dressed or by the wads of cash they're holding to offer the performers. There's no immediately obvious source of the effects noted on the people who were leaving. 

Most of the patrons seem to be acting fairly normal, but before the team can investigate further, a female patron stumbles up to Kasper, seeming to be acting in the drunken manner seen in the people outside. She slurs out a "Helloooo handsome~" and leans up into his space, wrapping arms around his shoulders and for all intents and purposes appearing to be going for a kiss.

Athena notices this almost instantly and stares at her arm very obviously wrapped around Kasper’s before staring at the woman. She pulls him closer to her, pressing her chest against his arm and putting herself somehow in between them albeit not completely “ma’am.” She says pointedly, offering her a very dry but flattering smile

Before he knew it a patron came in a little tooooo close for comfort, and he was not about to entertain a random smooch from someone who wasn’t Athena. Thankfully Athena would come in to save the day, but dear god he was not about to let his girlfriend get smooched now. Once again pulling her away, he attempts to pull her into a dance move in order to discreetly spin her away from the group— (DEX 11)

She gives him a grumble and moves farther away. Staring at the performers again. Ass...

The lady stumbles a bit as Kasper spins her away, but keeps the same hazy smile on her face, keeping hold of Kasper's hand and clinging onto him rather tightly. "Please, you're so good, mm..." She is Clinging. Meanwhile, security seems to have noticed the slight commotion and is moving in this direction.

Romeo blinks and sweat. "Kasper, cut her loose, we have eyes on us-"

"-Eh?" Jess turns back to the group with Romeo's words. Ah, fuck. "... Do we move somewhere else, or-?"

A part of him was beginning to panic, but he eventually took a deep breath before sighing, making sure to speak his apology in mandarin so Athena knows he’s trying to play a role. “I’m sorry, miss. I have an obligation to get to… But why don’t you be a good girl and find yourself a seat first? You’ll get what you want if you behave a moment.” Part of him was screaming inside for saying this to not his girlfriend but a man had to do what he had to do. (Persuasion: 24)

The lady seems a bit sad and reluctant to let go of Kasper, but bites her lip a bit and does so, scooting her way over to a chair and having a seat, patting her lap and looking at him eagerly like she's expecting to be praised. Meanwhile, two security guards have made it over to them. One of them, a rather tall, burly man, steps closer. Excuse me. Can we get you all's reservation information?"

The guard pulls out a list. "Alright, Vitale...Vitale....huh, I don't see any Vitale name on here." He tucks the list away. "I'm going to have to ask you all to leave."

Jess just. Pretends she's not with them and walks closer to the stage. She's looking at the performers. Totally.

“Now now, let’s not panic and just listen to the nice man here.” Lana grabs Jess, seeing as she’s… distracted and calmly makes her way to the door, giving the saloon one more look over (perception: 20 not nat)

Jess makes an ungodly noise as she's grabbed. (perception 5)

As Lana and Jess are over by the stage, they may notice the odd feeling noted earlier from the weirdo freaky groups is present and stronger over by the stage. Meanwhile, the guard glares at Romeo a bit. "Sir, policy states that if you don't have a valid reservation then you need to leave."
