A small young Vespire peered at the golden yellow and black adult who  was before him. He was focused, quickly scribbling into a notebook. The  youngling’s curiosity got the better of him. He stepped forward and  asked, “Hi, what’s that you’re doing?”

Martialis stopped and looked up from his book. “Hello there young  one. I’m writing poetry. It’s when you carefully craft writing, and it’s  a kind of art.”

“Art?” I never knew that writing was an art form.” The small vesp  replied. The geode peered over Martialis’s shoulder, then opened his  mouth to sing the poetry on the page.

Martialis didn’t stop the small intruder. He was happy that someone -  even if they had no concept of boundaries, was interested in his craft.  The tiny vesp continued, humming a random tune he had just thought of  whilst reciting Martialis’s words. “He has some sense of rhythm and  harmony”, the larger Vespire thought. “He might not understand what art  is entirely, but he does have the spirit.”

The younger vesp continued singing the sonnet on the next page with  gusto. He was able to hit the notes and tunes of the random song he  invented on the spot. Martalis smiled, they seemed genuinely interested  in his work, and that gave him a sense of happiness. He started to join  in with the small vesp, both singing along in tune whilst looking at the  pages of his book.

After several rounds of song, Martialis remarked “ I guess poetry… as song, IS an art”. The two vespires smiled.
