"Oh come on, Kaden!" Maximilian said dragging the older auracorn by the arm behind him. "Just a quick peek in the forest for cryptids and then you can get back to work! Besides, like, nothing really happens at night here anyway!"

"Except you jumping the fence. Again." Kaden grumbled in annoyance.

"Oh, pish posh," Maximilian said waving his free hand dismissively. "Maybe if this place wasn't a hot spot for the supernatural I wouldn't have to jump the fence."

"Or you could, I d'know, enter through the front gates during visiting hours like a normal person?" Kaden suggested.

"But everyone knows that the good paranormal stuff really only happens at night." The younger auracorn replied still moving forward.

The two left Hopesfall Cemetery behind them as they ventured deeper and deeper into the forest surrounding the large cemetery. Both were well aware that things lurked both in the cemetery and out of it. But Kaden would never actually admit that himself, lest he egg Maximilian on more than he already was.

Maximilian shone his flashlight ahead of them and continued on, babbling about something he had discovered on his last paranormal investigation. Honestly, Kaden wasn't exactly paying attention, his mind elsewhere.

"Oh, oh!" Maximilian said suddenly coming to a hault, and causing Kaden to run into him, having been lost in his thoughts.

"What?" Kaden asked, a little annoyed.

"I thought I heard something," Maximilian replied shining the flashlight several feet ahead of them. They were met with nothing but the chirping of crickets and other night sounds.

"There's nothing there. Nothing but woods." Kaden said skeptically.

"No, I head something, like an extra set of footsteps."

"You must have heard mine, we aren't walking in step, after all." Kaden crossed his arms. But he couldn't shake the feeling he was being watched all of a sudden.

"Do you get the sense that we're being watched...?" Maximilian asked slowly.

Normally Kaden would deny it, but he couldn't shake the feeling either. "...Yes."

Slowly, the two turned to look behind them and were met with the bright yellow eyes of a very tall and threatening looking auracorn. Both Maximilian and Kaden screamed, not expecting to actually see anything, and sprinted in the opposite direction of the cryptid like auracorn they had seen.

--------

The next day Maximilian was already rearing to get back into the woods to find the auracorn they had seen the previous night, acting like he hadn't been scared half to death. And no doubt that he would once again drag Kaden out with him.
