Introduction + Letter I.

From the archives of Asterfall Mage College- Section 12.a The Study of the Legendary Suparlunaries, the formative mages of the study of celestial bodies and weather patterns, their influence on magic, and their impact in Bellacoste.

Scholars note:

A collection of letters written from legendary mage Caelus Spatium Nati to his parents, dated approx. 1000 years Pre-Starfall.

The first and oldest of the three Superlunaries- the oldest known ‘mages’ to modern Scholarship, although this was a term not yet coined when the majority of the primary sources we have located in this area of study were penned. He was allegedly known colloquially as ‘Ame’, or formally as Caelus Spatium Nati, of Midnight Rain and Amethyst Skies, the Dream Walker and Night Soother. Famous for destroying a comet headed to Brouzet, and containing the creatures now known as nightmares to the dream realm.

Due to the secrecy of the Ursuki in general, not much knowledge outside of local folklore and legends has been preserved about Caelus Spatium Nocti. This only recently discovered collection, detailing his early days studying what would become mageship, is invaluable indeed and has been hailed as one of the greatest historical finds of the decade.

LETTER I.

To my dearest Mothers,

I miss you.

And I must confess- I haven’t stayed in our home, the quiet forest of moss and mushroom and light that dappled the damp ground underfoot, pushing through the thick canopy of trees that towered so tall overhead. We lived here in peace for so many years, and I am truely sorry I can no longer proudly be one of the guardians of this place.

I fear a part of me will always regret leaving- and yet, I felt this call within me, to go. It was an unusual feeling- I have always been so content, curious, yes, as you well know- I never did stop asking questions and feel I truely blossomed under your careful tutelage. But I began to yearn for more, to know the world outside our grove, to see sky and mountains and snow and meet others who walk this continent.

And so I’ve left. And while I feel guilty about this, I know in my heart I am on the right path.

There’s an energy in this world we have not explored. It is afire within me, it calls to me from the stars and the sea. I feel so much possibility.

I hope you understand. I love you.

Forever yours,

Ame
