Firelight

The light of the flickering fire seemed to dance on the walls as Vatos sat nearby; a blanket over his shoulders. Danny, the ghost talonfish, sat nearby and softly snoozed while the warmth tickled his scales. While he sipped on a mug of hot chocolate, Vatos looked at the vacant spot next to him and the additional steaming drink. Consus was supposed to return quite some time ago, yet the snow had been falling for quite some time…

As if on command, the door whipped open with the wind to allow some stray flecks of snow and a figure to step inside. Luckily, it was just who Vatos had been hoping to see.
“Hey! Gosh, Vatos, I’m so sorry! Boingo’s rehearsal was taking longer than I thought, and then I had to meet my friend, Viorel, at the cafe to discuss a few things, and then it started to snow harder and harder… OUGHHH I hate being late!”

Vatos offered a little smile while Consus took off his starleaf cloak.
“I don’t blame you - for the delay, at least. Sometimes it gets a little slippery out there… I’d think. That and, well, I know just as well as you do that Boingo isn’t the time-sensitive type. Luckily for you… I kept a warm mug of the good stuff for you, so come and take a seat!”

The satyr let out a sigh of relief and happily walked himself over to take a seat.
“Aww… I love hot chocolate… and you remembered how I like my marshmallows!”

With a chipper tone, Vatos allowed himself to talk about a few chores he performed around the house before sipping on his own drink to the rhythm of Consus’ telling of his daily events. Both creatures happily licked the foam of their drinks from their lips and shared the blanket so that the fire could warm them.
