"Quailsooong." A singing voice called out the grey she-cat's name. Quailsong whipped her head around, trying to find the voice.

"Who's there! Show yourself." Quailsong opened her mouth, trying to find a scent of a cat, but there was no scent but her own. A staticy giggle could be heard all around her, echoing. Quailsong caught sight of a cream colored tail sticking out of a bush. She pounced on it, but it just disappeared.

"What the-"

"Quailsooong!" The voice called out again, but this time it sounded like it was coming directly from behind Quailsong. Feeling her heart drop, she slowly turned around. A demonic tom stood behind her. His head was eerily tilted, and he had a wide smile with sharp teeth. He spoke again.

"Ah, how I've longed to meet you in-person, Quailsong. Cricketstar's kin; you truly are.. special." Quailsong curled back her lip.

"That sounds like more of a threat than a compliment." The tom cackled at this, wiping a single, blood-red tear from his eye.

"Ah, you're hilarious; just like your mother." Quailsong growled, sinking her claws into the muddy soil.

"What do you know about Creameyes, you son of a-" The tom quickly put a paw over her mouth.

"The mouth on you! If you weren't already in the Place of No Stars I would send you there!" Shroombreath laughed again. "Yes, I, Shroombreath, know your mother. I know all of your StarClan-forsaken kin. Your bloodline is rotten; however, I let your mother and her children live because, well, she reminds me of me."

"W-What are you talking about?" Shroombreath patted her on the head condescendingly.

"Oh, Quailsong; you'll learn soon enough. StarClan cannot protect you forever." Shroombreath's eyes glowed red. They were the last thing Quailsong saw before jolting awake, gasping for air.

"What in the No Stars was that..?"
