All she heard was screeching and that was it. She could see, barely, a strange mask upon her face that she knew she didn't put there. As she tried slowly pulling it off she felt her flesh go with it, feeling disgusting she put it back on.

Forest. That's all she could see. One second in a car with her two best friends, the next - alone, sitting in the middle of the street, feeling her heart physically pumping. One car swerved around her and kept going, she ducked in response and held her breath, breathing only when needed. She eventually after what felt like forever popped her head back up and looked around, she hasn't heard another car since. She slowly got up, adjusting her new mask, and walked down the road. It felt never ending, she saw a city in the background with no idea how to get to it. Maybe she could borrow a phone and call her mom, her friends, anyone...

After walking a few miles she heard loud rustling in the bushes, slowly peaking her head in, having to walk further in, her breath hitched and heart felt like it stopped as she watched a man with six arms hold a smaller demonic creature down, one... two... three... About a half of a scream was heard before the man severed the demon's neck. Mel hid behind a tree, her heart beating rapidly, barely able to breathe, barely able to think. She snuck one last quick peak, seeing his horns raise as he used a pocket napkin to clean the blood off himself. She saw his ear twitch towards her, long and slender like the tales of elves, and she quickly shrunk down to hide again, covering her mouth and unable to move as she heard footsteps towards her. All she knew next was she was staring up at him, five glaring red eyes, no mouth but she... swore she saw one a second ago, it seemed as though his extra arms were gone too, but he was still... giant, at least seven feet tall. He originally approached her with claws out, ready to attack, but as he got closer he really looked at her, watching her chest rapidly rise and fall, how young she looked, she was absolutely new and too young to even be here. His gaze softened as he offered a hand, but not too close, "Do you know how you got here?" he asked in a soft tone, watching intently for how she reacted. She took a shaky deep breath before blurting, "I just woke up here, there was a party and I was coming home and-" she felt her chest tighten, unintentionally crying out, "I saw what you did to him please don't hurt me"

The tall man took a step back, looking taken aback before recomposing himself. "Because he would've hurt you. I guard these woods, you are safe." he took a deep breath before continuing, "The city is hours from here if not days, you have no where else to go, I know cabins to sleep in and a community to feed you. If you want to leave, then go, but I'd like for you to give it a chance." he offered as he offered his hand again, but reluctantly, she took it this time. She immediately saw kind faces there, but her heart ached knowing she'd never see her family or friends again.
