Staff Bonanza

For some reason, the diner is extraordinarily busy today. They usually pull in a pretty solid crowd in the mornings, sure! Everyone wants their delicious breakfast treats, and Clara’s blueberry goods are almost famous in Yestershire at this point. Eleven in the morning on a weekend? Rest assured that they’re going to be packed. 

But it’s a workday, and they’re still drawing an enormous crowd, and her fellow server called out on account of illness. Clara, who had been expecting an easy day today, instead flits from table to table, serving the entire restaurant with a beatific smile and her usual down-homey charm. The only sign that the work is wearing on her is the way her hair grows increasingly frazzled from the rapid back and forth between every table.

It’s not that she minds the work! She’s put her entire heart and soul into this diner and worked closely with the owner for years now - she’s well paid, well treated, and extremely happy here. Sometimes, though, a day will hit the ground running, and it’s all you can do to sprint and try to keep up. This Monday is one of those days, and Clara will be happy when it’s done and she can go home and take a load off.
