The clock on the wall stared down at Silias, mocking him with the tick of precious seconds slipping away into the ether. The rather disheveled, pastel coloured browbird glared daggers, willing time to stop or at least slow down for… a few hours?

Silias groaned, his head slipping from its perch on his hand to fall with a soft thud upon and absolute ruin of a desk. Every available inch of the wooden surface was covered in books, paper and the occasional ink spatter. It was as if a bomb had gone off. The ticking continued despite his protests however so Silias peeled his forehead from the desk and let his tired eyes rest on the half finished research paper before him. It was due first thing in the morning and it was currently… His eye flicked to the clock again, another groan escaping as he read the time. Ten forty five.

Why? Why did he leave-

[ Left it to the last minute again I see.] Smog buzzed, peeking his fluffy head over the edge of the desk. Silias look up with a stare that could curdle milk.

Smog chuckled in reply. [ I was about to head to bed, did you need anything? ]

Silias sighed and rubbed at his temples. “There’s a stack of books in the other room I could use… If it’s not too much trouble?” He groaned.

The kitbull nodded and scampered off as Silias resumed scratching at his paper. It was going to be a long night…
