Flower Outbreak!

Codex breathed heavily as he slammed the door to where Shatter lived shut, Metal barely making it inside. This was what Codex might charitably describe as a disaster. First some odd, red flower starts popping up and then people started to get violent. Honestly Codex had likely only managed to escape the plague sweeping Shiverkeep due to him being holed up in the small lab that was in Shatter's house. Of course he'd gone to investigate when he'd heard odd noises. It hadn't taken long for him to realize the scope of what was going on. Honestly he'd frozen in front of an enraged Swift and likely would have been injured or succumb to the flower's effects if Metal hadn't swooped in to help him.

The robotic pokemon was tense as he eyed the door. "THE FLOWERS." Metal looked over at Codex. "THEY WERE THE CAUSE OF THIS."

Codex frowned. "How is that possible?"

"I DO NOT KNOW. THERE IS STILL MUCH ABOUT THIS WORLD THAT CONFUSES ME." Metal admitted. "WE MUST FIX THIS."

Codex nodded along. Of course they needed to try and fix it, but he had no idea how. His expertise lied more in mechanics, not natural phenomenon like this. "How come you weren't effected?" He frowned in confusion.

"I AM A MACHINE. I DO NOT BREATH LIKE A LIVING ORGANISM DOES. THEREFORE I CANNOT INJEST WHAT THE FLOWERS GIVE OFF." Metal answered, shifting from paw to paw.

"Perhaps if I can figure out a way to filter the particles out the air would be safe for people to breath... at the very least I can keep myself from going crazy." Codex glanced over at the large object that was covered in a white tarp. "Maybe if robotic pokemon are immune I can get us some back up too." He turned back to Metal. "Make sure none of the others get in here, and let me know if any of that stuff from the flowers gets in here. I'll do my best to work quickly."

"NEW OBJECTIVE ACKNOWLEDGED." Metal nodded. "BE FAST." Codex nodded and took a deep breath. Well this was hardly the first time he'd had to work quickly under pressure. He could do this.

---

Codex took a deep breath and put way too much faith in the devices he'd whipped up in less than an hour. Though to be fair they didn't need to be fancy so long as they worked. He carefully crept along the buildings, ears perked for noise of any of Shiverkeep's residents. Behind him Metal trudged along, equally as alert. There was also another, a robotic type:null who still looked unfinished with some outer panels missing. They didn't seem to be having any issues though and Codex was glad he'd managed to help Shatter finish up the code recently. "Ok, if my guess is right then we need to get some of these onto people so they stop breathing in this stuff." He eyed a patch of the red flowers responsible for all this wearily as he avoided them. "Once we have a bit more help we can work on trying to solve the problem permanently."

"Acknowledged." Both robotic pokemon said in sync.

Admittedly Codex didn't know many people in Shiverkeep. He wanted to be selfish of course, saving Swift and Strike, but he knew those two wouldn't be too much help in this situation. No, he needed to put personal feelings aside for a moment and figure out what pokemon would be best to try and calm down. Maybe a group of the knights. The pokemon that Kazoku had told him were responsible for keeping people safe in the frontier. If any pokemon in town knew what to do, it would be them. Thankfully it wasn't all to hard to come across who he was looking for. A duo of sneasel, a zorua fusion, and an eevee fusion all barred their teeth at Codex's group. Honestly he was surprised they hadn't turned on each other based on what he'd seen of the others. Maybe an individual could be affected differently. "Alright you two, get me an opening."

Both Metal and the currently unnamed type:null sprung forward, the other group rushing to meet them. Codex stayed back and nervously watched the two robotic pokmeon engage. Metal was far more skilled in combat between the two, but the type:null seemed to be doing fine with overwhelming force and minimum strategy. Of course being outnumbered would make this tricky. Codex really wanted to help but he was still getting used to his own body, if he jumped in now he'd only become a liability.

Although it pained him he just watched and hoped the two could subdue the group of knights long enough for him to slip the masks over their faces. Thankfully he eventually got his opening and he took off like a shot to quickly, but firmly strap the masks to their faces. The four pokemon struggled at first and Codex motioned for the duo of robotic pokemon to back off. Eventually though their struggles lessened and their eyes became clearer. The hisuian sneasel blinked at him slowly, a hand slowly coming up to trace the mask on his face. A look of realization flashed across his face before he grinned at Codex, an expression that oh so reminded him of Swift and had his chest tightening. "Thanks for the help." The hisuian sneasel nodded. "Care to fill us in?"
