-very mysterious ppl dont even know for sure if they exist or not but some evidence seems to suggest they  exist

-more of a force than a being

-neither a human nor a dragon nor a sentient beast nor a monster but those races can all have elemental traits

-magic seen as borrowing powers of elemental

-usually seen as demigods but usually arent true demigods
