In the beginning, there was one.
One diamond, bright and brilliant and white, she blinked into being.

She knew all, yet nothing.
And she was lonely.

In the beginning, there were two.
The other, bold, brazen yellow; she stood mighty.

They were fierce and brutal.
And they were lonely.

In the beginning, there were three.
Another, blue, seeping sorrow and sadness, and she wept.

They incited justice.
And they were lonely.

In the beginning, there were four.
Strict and stern and faint champagne, she craved knowledge.

They ruled in harmony.
And they were lonely.

In the beginning, there were five.
The last, small, blushing pink, and she loved life.

They were satisfied.
And they suffocated.

Then there were three
And the skies were plagued with war.

In the end, there were many.
Flaming and changing and more they numbered,
Finding their place;
Finding each other
And creating new beginnings.
