Calix was laughing to himself as he chased small bugs along the ground, his ice blue eyes had hardly looked up since he had began his exploration that day. He watched the bug before him intently, as it would fly a few inches Calix would pounce. He was unable to keep himself balanced and would often fall over, rolling in the Savannah's tall grass Calix hadn't noticed the change in its color. As he continued to walk, his paws to large for his body he made his way along a few rocks and into an area he had never seen before. However he hadn't taken notice of the change in scenery his eyes still trained on the flying bug in front of him.  The first time he lifted his head was after he had walked another two miles away from his home, he gulped realizing he was lost, his paws were sore, and he realized not only was he thirsty, but he was also tired. He began to walk in a small circle, confused, how had he gotten so far from the lionesses view? Did anyone know where he had gone? He had a sinking feeling in his stomach as he came to the conclusion he didn't know how to get back home, and was worried he would be in trouble when he did return, if he would ever.(edited)

The half-maned lion was strolling through the rocky landcape, searching for something to chew on, if he was that lucky something to hunt. He'd love to have something fresh to eat finally. But no grass means no food.After a while the warm breeze carried the unfamiliar scent of a lion right to Sultan to what the male pulled a smirk onto his muzzle. He might aswell amuse himself a little if he can't find anything to ease his hunger.It was just a shirt walk before he spotted a young male walk in a small circle of confusion and frustration. He was rather well-fed, probably a prideland cub.Sultan shook his mane before leaping up to a nearby boulder and settled down on his stomach, his paws crossed as he watched the youngster circle around.<b>"Well child. Look where you got yourself. "</b> Sultan spoke aloud to draw the young male's attention to him.

Calix fell back stumbling over his paws. ”Where..who. Who are you?” He mewed softly. He knew it wasn’t worth the fight. This lion was large and he would easily be taken over if he tried to fight. He let out a small and very whimpy roar however. ”Don’t eat me.”(edited)

<b>"Just a hungry lion by the name Sultan."</b> The male introduced himself upon the cub's meow of a question, with his piercing red gaze fixed on the young male.Who next, tried to show himself off with a sweet roar. Sultan flicked his ear with a sway of his tail, <b>"I'll think about it."</b> He stated while glancing away alongside a shake of his mane, but he soon turned his gaze back to the cub. <b>"Times are rather- starving out here, you know."</b>

Calix's eyes grew wide in slight horror. "But you wouldn't want to cause a ..cause a war between the pride..prides would you?" He whimpered. He wasn't very important to the pride but most prides took cubs seriously. His tail flicked back ad forth as he watched the large before him. "I..I could...uhm..Do you eat bugs?" He was trying to think of anything to keep him from devouring him.

Sultan rose to his paws and streched his legs before shaking his head upon the adolescent's question, <b>"No, why would I want that? Of course not."</b> He asked with a slight smirk as he leaped down from the boulder.The male rose a brow, <b>"Please son, you, think that's helping anything."</b> He asked swaying the tip of his tail. Though for sure, the young male was a stranger to the burning hunger they were living with out here.

"I dont.. want to die." He whimpered as he walked backwards slowly, his paw slipped and he face planted again. "I have a goal in life. I cant die now." He turned on his paws when he heard a sound that sent fear through him. It was an echoing giggle, but it sounded far away, despite his fear he raced back towards the large lion. He sat himself under him, his face burrowed in his dark fur. He looked up hoping he wouldn't eat him or scratch at him for the sudden movement.(edited)

Sultan certainly was amused by the situation, though the cub clearly not. Either he was this naive, or priderock lions were claiming them to be cannibals and probably making them the monsters in their bedtime storries. Which of course was partially true, but he had nit yet heard about someone eating their own blood and flesh out here, despite the killing hunger.<b>"Me too, boy. Survival."</b>And just before he could habe peeled his lips back into a snarl to scare the cub off home, the hyenas showed up once again. And the cubs immediate reaction was seeking shelter under him. Maybe he should have eaten him earlier.He glared down at the cub before a deep sigh left his mouth. He reached down to grab the male by his scruff, even if he was quite big and old to be carried this way normally, and put him up on the boulder he had rested on earlier. It was multiple hyenas circling them, so focusing on all of them and the cub at the same time was quite hard to do. <b>"Stay here or I'll eat you if they don't. Seriously."</b> Sultan grumbled before the first hyena nipped into his ankle, to what he turned to counter attack with a blow of his unsheated paw.(edited)

Calix whimpered as he watched what enfolded before him. He snarled and circled on his rock, thankful to the large male for having done that for him. He knew that he should help, but didn't know how he could. The hyenas were still bigger then he was. He however turned again and this time a nip to his ankle sent him tumbling off the rock. He yowled and hissed blindly pawing at his attacker. However this left him more vulnerable to be snatched, which is exactly what happened. He let out a cry. "Sultan!" He screamed as he being dragged away from the larger lion.

His flank and ankles have been nipped into multiple times as Sultan was circled by the hyenas, but he himself had managed to draw their blood with his claws. And as focused he was, he only noticed that the cub was in need of help when he cried out his name.Sultan growled in both frustration and annoyance upon turning to see the prideland cub being dragged away by a hyena. He had to admit to himself that he cared little about the young male. It would be a nice life lesson for the boy, and if he did not survive. Well then, it's the Prideland's loss. But his own selfish pride kept him from giving the hyenas such a big triumph in this forever going war between lions and hyenas, that is killing a lion cub. He fought himself free before charging after the hyena. He rammed the scavenger to the ground which made it release a whine and drop the young male. Sultan made sure to harm the hyena in a way it wouldn't forget about it before letting it free. And turns out it was some leader of the group as the rest of the hyenas ran along with her. The half-maned lion roared after them with heavy breaths for announcing his own triumph over their little clan.(edited)

Calix ran to Sultan, he hugged the lion, in the best a hug a lion can do. And bowed his head. “I’m sorry I should have been paying more attention. I put you in danger and I shouldn’t have... i am in your debt.”

Sultan actually planned to take his leave without even turning his gaze to the prideland cub. But he crossed his plans by bolting up to him and embracing him in a hug. To what the half-maned brute's immediate reaction was pushing him away with a grumble. "You owe me removing your pitty self from this land-"  He growled before lashing out at the young male, "I care the least about you. The reason you're alive is my self-pride. Get lost- whiny cubs don't have a place here." Sultan snarled, glaring down at the young male.

Calix hung his head for a moment, and turned running from the land. He was upset with himself, and the interaction that they had. He had made the older male upset.
