Could survival be seen as a worthy goal?

The entire town seems to be made up of misfits in all shapes, sizes, and flavors. In one way or another, the cats who congregate in Lerwick are reluctant outcasts of the larger state's society, and in an odd way, Lerwick promises to be a haven. A new start, so to speak, for those who couldn't make a new life where they were before. The constant threat from a wolf clan to the east keeps the members of the township vigilant and tightknit, but even now they're all learning how to live and coexist together under a mayor who promises a better future for them and their descendants. Ever so slowly, their goal is to become his goal: See the town grow, and thrive. Care for the members inside it, through thick and thin. Create a name for themselves, when they would otherwise be nameless vagabonds. Just maybe, trying out this new way of erecting a town, that works like a community more than a business deal, will keep them all together when things get really difficult. The clean air, mild weather, and promising trade speak to silver-lined horizons. Plus, their mayor's attentiveness to all of their needs is nothing to dismiss either. It's nice to feel needed. (216)
