Snow Flight

Meepo crouched below the snow covered rocks, his gaze focused on the falcon above circling the area, he was wanting to fly, he’d already attempted it once… but now he wanted to do it again, though the falcon was too small to carry him, he was hoping another dragon would be in the area, for he’d heard a huge winged dragon often liked to fly about; its wingspan allowing it to fly for miles and miles; and so Meepo waited.

Byakko swept through the snow-covered peaks, one of his wingtips brushing the mountain as he headed towards the falcon circling nearby; Meiron gripping his velvet scales as he gloried in the open air; he always loved flying and the gentle falling of snow made it more magical, especially as this was the first time he’d had a rider, their bond growing slowly but steadily. A faint brush along his metal magic had him concentrating, reading the aura of a small dragon hiding nearby, waiting, nothing malicious…. Rather… one who wanted to fly as well. Turning on the wind he angled his way descending somewhat so he was closer.

The powerful stroke of wings had Meepo peering from his hiding place, his jaw dropping at the size of the dragon, his pale hide blending into the white background… and he was descending. This was perfect. “Are you ready?” a telepathic voice sounded through his mind, gentle and amused, and he watched as the dragon pulled his back legs forward… perfect for grabbing onto. With a grin he started running, avoiding the rocks which had been his shelter until now; just as he reached the end he jumped off the end of the rocks… to grab onto the outstretched claw as the dragon flew over him, and started rising. “Hold on.” The voice sounded again, and Meepo braced himself, barely feeling the cold of the flight thanks to his fire heritage…. The dragon dropped, folding his wings close as the ground loomed closer; the small dragon grinned, gripping the talons tight it seemed he would crash, two-three wingbeats later and he was back into the open air as he continued to rise.

Byakko huffed in amusement and his rider did as well, the cat telepathic on a level he wasn’t yet; the dragon knew from the little ones aura he was enjoying the flight in the snow; and he wasn’t done. “Let go.” He said telepathically to Meepo; for a moment the small dragons claws tensed. “I won't let you fall i promise.” for a moment the hybrids claws remained tightly clasped around Byakko’s claws… then he let go, spreading his limbs wide to slow his fall, a derpy grin on his face as the snow filled air rushed past him. Byakko didn’t wait, free falling down, zooming past Meepo and flaring his wings directly below….

Meepo landed on his back, next to the bestia who gripped the scales as his flight leveled back he grinned at the cat before scrambling forward, carefully traversing the dragon's neck until he was at the back of his head, gripping the crests carefully in his claws. Behind him he heard the cat chuckle, and a cry sounded off to his left, the falcon soaring past. “More?” The males voice sounded again and Meepo nodded, wanting the snow flight to last as long as possible.

Meiron grinned as the small dragon moved forward, he hadn’t known what to expect when Byakko had suddenly mentioned picking up an extra passenger; but the snow flight had helped to reinforce their new bond; the falcon dropped. Its smaller wings unable to compete with the huge dragons; but it too had a flight through the snow.
