Author's Notes

Draw or write about your character working with dragons. This typically means doing menial work in the stables, helping them prepare for the races, arming them for battle, and so on. How does your character handle tasks like these? Remember that the personality of your character affects the element they receive in the end! You can pick your character’s permanent job later.

Working with Dragons

"No-nya." Isa replied, steadily heading deeper into the forest, Cam was way in front peering inot everything, and Kyran just behind, both though had their ears on the two blorbs, listening for more information on where they were from, having never thought to ask Isa about its past. Bouncing up onto a large overturned trunk, ears twitching as it grinned at Udua. "Fell into a volcano-nya." It replied cheerfully, Chusi's head shot up and she 'stared' at her rider. "Second time got trapped in the glaciers-nya."The tail slipped through the wood as it continued on, faint scatterings of stone appearing here and there as the tree's thinned out somehwat, the ruins of an ancient structure, long since reclaimed by the forest lay in front of them. Cam darted forward, but halted to wait for the rest.... since... despite its ruined state, the gate and walls were in fact still in good condition, and for 4 creatures that couldn't fly.. Isa peered at it thoughtfully. "Kept coming here-nya so stared to explore-nya." Isa finished.

"A volcano, oro~?" she echoed, head tilting, that was nowhere near the cave. "How did you go back?" the bat asked, curiously as she bounced along. Occasionally fluttering her wings, as if in habit, before recalling she was with another stilla and resuming the terrestrial locomotion. She blinked for Chusi's reaction though, "Stilla are very durable, don't fret?" she reassured, but paused for the ruins, perking eagerly. Her wings beat again, before she realized the trouble for her new friends and flapped back down. Confused momentarily, then brightened, "Don't worry, I can fix~" she churred, and hopped down from her perch on one of the gate's pillars.

Her wings flared to halt her descent near the lock, and her tail curled forward. The indigo substance shifting like liquid and flowing into the lock. A few moments later there was a distinct click and Udua dropped to the ground, grinning, as the gate swung open. "Violá."

Isa grinned, as Chusi shook her head, she knew her rider was very.... durable, but a volcano. "No idea-nya." Isa replied, watching the flighted stilla 'unlock' the gate. "Sort of just.... fell back-nya" Bouncing inside it stopped, ears twitching as i looked around the area, shattered statues and an old fountain, the water long since dried up. "Thank you-nya." Isa said, peering as Udua came back down to its level. Several darkened maws beckoned. "Am-nya, Ky-nya? It called, and the two youngsters came back, Cam from his nosying around and Kyran form his more careful explorations. "Go with Udua-nya." Chusi slipped up next to it, rolling her rider off. "Explore more that way-nya."

"Wonder if I'll do that... oru~?" Udua murmured, but nodded for the thanks, churring happily.

She glanced in the direction Isa suggested and nodded, then bounced, flapping off roughly at the dragon's eye level. Curious what the ruins might hold.

Isa could feel Cam and Kyran through its bond faint echoes of nervousness but exciitement at the same time, so it didn't mind leaving them with the other stilla, it would do them good actually.... of course...it also meant they could cover more ground this way. Halting its bouncing, Isa peered over the drop covering the whole passage way, though time had eroded the stonework somewhat, the iron spikes at the bottom (complete with some bones) made it clear what this was. "Trap-nya." Chusi nodded, slowly she shifted her shape somewhat, body oozing as she covered the gap, carefully reforming as she reached the other side. Isa backed up several spaces then 'charged', and at the last moment 'jumped', like a springboard it cleared the trap, and went sailing over Chusi to bounce against another wall... thankfully Chusi caught hold of him in her maw before it could continue to richochet around the ruins.... the one downside to it been able to jump... it had little control over what happened afterwards. Gently Chusi released Isa and they continued their explorations.

"Should try to find an entrance..." Udua offered, peering around curiously. The building was relatively intact, though roots threatened its integrity. The stilla darted around them, trying to find holes, but tilted her head and eyed the dragons. "Lot of cracks here, if we were careful might could get in this way?" she suggested, tail tapping it, working through a crack and expanding to widen it. If she was the only one working on that though it would take most of the day. The blorb frowned, but looked to the strange dragons for their opinions on the same.

Kyran was far more nervous than Cam as he followed Udua, and only the reassurances from his bond with Isa calming him, Cam though had worked with others before... true Isa was normally with him... still. He dragged his body to where Udua was working at the cracks, he watched her a few moments before using his hands to pull at the loose stone, helping widen the crack some more. "Cracked.. but still compact-nya." He commented. Kyran rolled his eyes at the look Cam sent him, he was not using his antlers to help. Sighing he waitrd, watching as the crack slowly widened enough that he could slip his tail in. "If i may?" He asked politely, only when they'd moved back did he press close, and with a strength completely at odds with his size, shattered the cracked rocks..... yelping as one fell on him. "Did it work?" he asked as the dust started to settle.

"Means it won't collapse if we remove it!" The batlike blorb chirped happily at Cam, grinning, but tilted her head for the look he gave the other dragon. Curious, but didn't ask yet, simply filed it away and resumed working. Udua blinked at the interjection, jolting them from the work, apparently a bit too focused... but the blorb only bounced off a ways. Watching curiously. Her eyes widened not for the display, but for the misplaced stone. Her whole body bunching up and leting loose as the dragon yelped, tacking the stone with all the force she could muster.

She flapped her wings wildly to keep herself from ricocheting everywhere, the motion instinctive even as she shook her head to clear it again. "Youse okay?" She chirped, too fast for her alarm, but snorted for the question in return and peered behind her. "Looks like it... be more careful though, that'd squich you good... and I don't think dragons here bounce back like stilla; oro?"

Isa winced as pain filtered though its bond with Kyran, it and Chusi had found a rather large room, open chests here and there, and though neither had found anything of note.... they weren't discouraged, Chusi shook her head feeling the rumbling echo through the building, but it held. Still, it had been a brief stag of pain and it wasn't picking up anything troubling through its bonds so the two continued onwards, pressing deeper. - Kyran snorted, lifting a tail to check his antlers were okay, sighing in relief as the stone had only hit his head and not his crest. "He's sturdier than he looks-nya." Cam responded, nudging his companion gently; though his attention was soon arrested by what lay beyond the falling dust.

Udua nodded, then blinked as a breeze ruffled her fur, but not the trees. Almost as if it were going through the hole beside them. The stilla shook her head and chuckled for the private checkup. Privately glad only the smaller chunk had hit him, but she brushed it off outwardly. "Cam, be careful." the blorb warned, voice notably sterner, but only smiled at him when he glanced her way. "There could be traps, or degradation, so don't run off." she clarified, lighter again, bouncing forward carefully and inspecting the hall before letting the two dragons follow her. The last thing she wanted was them triggering something, she would be fine, and carefully checked around as she bounced. Eyes alert for anything that could be dangerous to the pair who followed.

Isa halted, ears twitching at the odd pressure it could feel. "hmmmm." it mused, before shrugging, pressing against the wall where it and Chusi had determined there was a secret passageway; the dragoness was also on edge... the shadows around felt...odd.... but she couldn't figure out why. - Cam grinned. "I'm always careful." he reassured her, easing forward... just as his body pressed down on something, ducking as arrows shot from the side, missing him, though one bounced of his wing. "Umm... i think there's pressure plates here-nya." He waved from his crouched position. "And i can see the otheres." Kyran snickered, slipping along and carfully avoiding the odd stones which would likely set of another trap.

Udua glared at the dragon and bopped him with a wing, the blow surprisingly strong for such a small creature. "No you isn't, and I can't move that fast!" she admonished, wings scrunching up and folding, almost as if she were crossing them. But flapped up a moment later to inspect his wing for damage, still grumbling faintly. But she scrounged around in her bag and pulled something out, spreading the ointment over his wing before giving him another bop on the head for good measure with her height. "Be careful for real now; and you too Ky!" she called not missing the other dragon moving forward. She shook her head but moved after him, once she was sure the serpentine dragon was able to avoid the other plates.

They were lucky nothing was poisoned, or otherwise more dangerous than one might expect. Her ears flicked as they reached a crossway, glancing to the right and bunching that way a moment. Her head tilted almost to the point of toppling her, "Oru~" she churred, then blinked. "Water, this way?" she supplied, glancing back as her ears quivered, then bounced the other way to be sure. Nodding, and repeating the motion, "Nothing there.. but I hear water this way... oro?"

Cam scratched his head from his position. "Its fine, these wings arent... well like others, they can cut through things. If i'd been at a different angle, the arrow would of split in two-nya." He remained still as the ointment was spread. Only then did he ease his way through the passage way making sure to go last; at the crossway, he straightened, ears twitching as did Kyrans. "Yeah, there is water.. but it sounds... off?" the antlered dragon said, Chusi would of been handy the older dragoness far more experianced. "Which way?" he asked looking at Udua for direction. - The secret passagewya was long, and scatterings of silvence littered the area, as if someone had tried to escape in a hurry, Chusi picked upa few but like her rider, was starting to feel something as off in the area, a pressure building. Isa didn't hurry, as it bounced along, peeing into some cracks before contining onwards, though it was heading towards the others now.
