Dragons must undergo thorough courtship traditions before others will be interested in breeding with them. The Grand Display pushes their skills to the limit, ensuring only the finest of Dragons will go on to breed. Each element has their own traditions to impress others of their kind, though this same practice can dissuade their opposing element from breeding. Regardless of this, achieving their own element’s Grand Display is a dream of every growing dragon, and they are eager to enter into the ceremony as soon as permitted.

Providence Trial

Picking their way back out of the underground cavern took quite some time; Boxy and Raphael having delved deeper for materials, having judged that Mistral and Rose were capable of making their way back out; by the time they stepped (or fluttered) out of the cave entrance, a new day had broken, the morning sun soothing and reassuring as the breeze ruffled feathers and mane alike, sweet and free. Landing on a rock nearby Mistral flared her wings, taking deep breaths of the fresh air, cool... and with a promise of snow at some point. Rose shook herself, noting the mud encrusting her fur, it would brush off. "We may as well go gathering, i personally don't want to go exploring a unknown cave after that trek. I'd much rather be in the air under the sun." She commented; with one trial left, she knew Mistral would be just as keen to return the ship she called home. "You'll hear no complaint from me, snow is coming though, so we'd best hurry." The storm dragon replied, taking to the wing as Rose trotted below, waiting only until the rocky earth filtered into the fields before galloping, it felt good to stretch her legs after all that time underground. Mistral kept up, sometimes weaving around the light dragon taking simple joy in freedom of flight.

Gradually the fields led to a dense wood, just as the first snowflake fell on them; the bright sky becoming white with the approaching snowstorm. "It won't last long." Mistral said, a quick flurry and it would fade; angling her wings she slipped into the wood, quiet as the wildlife sought refuge, faint flickers of white slipping through the leaves. Rose's movements were slower her gaze scanning the area for fruits and berries; more and more flakes fell as the two headed deeper, searching for some that other foraging creatures may of missed. A flicker of red caught the light dragons eye and she wandered over, rearing up and placing her front hooves the bark, there just beyond the first branches a cluster of fruit. Mistral, realising her companion was no longer beneath her wings circled back, backwinging to land on the branch above Roses head. Hopping along, she slipped into the sheltered area, breaking off stalks with her beak she passed them to Rose who carefully lowered them to the ground, stamping a hoof if anything came to close (and eating a few, which she knew Mistral was as well.)

Not wanting to take all of ripe fruit, Mistral fluttered down, spotting the growing pile of fruit landed next to it. "Think we should look for more?" She asked, not that they needed all of it; Rose though nodded. "It is meant to be a feast." She replied, her tone lofty earning a chuckle from her companion, who pointed a wing.

Trotting deeper into the wood, the snow stopped falling, and above faint rays of sunlight began filtering back down through the canopy, she hadn't gone very far when she found a small cluster of apple tree's, huffing she stared..... hooves were not really ideal for gathering things..... sighing she knocked several off, sticking her head below, some fell to the ground.... but some did catch on her antlers, with careful movements she returned to Mistral who wisely said nothing, simply helped unload the others 'burden', and guarded the feast as Rose continued to fetch apples back, until even she admitted they had enough. "Now that is a feast of fruit."" She declared, the two catching one anothers eyes before bursting into laugher, the sound echoing through the wood, above the sun gleamed down having chased of the snow flurry.
