Journal Entry 05/25/20

Dear Journal,

Wow time has flown quickly. It seems like only yesterday I was receiving that egg from Ho-oh and preparing to leave for Kanto. Now I'm camping out on the side of Mt. Moon with a full team and a great traveling partner. You remember her, Altea and her team have been traveling with us since we arrived in Kanto. Our starters are twins too so it seems kind of cruel to separate them.

Anyway, this past day has been kind of crazy. So, as you'll recall, Altea and I got our Boulder badges yesterday. So we spent the night at the center… well Altea did. I can't sleep indoors so I slept in the Pokemon Center garden. It was nice, being able to write in the moonlight and bask in the glory of the stars. As you’ll recall I don’t sleep that much. I probably should but the world is so beautiful at night, how can I? And of course, every normal person works during the day so I have to sleep during the hours of twilight and dawn if I want any rest. Personally I don’t mind though. With my whole journey ahead of me, there will be plenty of time to sleep after it’s over. But I digress.

So we spent the night in Pewter City and then left out this morning. We were heading to Mt. Moon, hoping to be able to cross before nightfall so we wouldn’t have to camp out too far from civilization. We might have actually been able to do that except for the fact that I kept getting distracted by all the fairy types. I mean, Dylan did make me swear to photograph or draw his every fairy type I saw but I think I might be getting carried away a little bit. Altea doesn’t seem to mind, for which I’m grateful for, especially since I’ve barely even discussed Dylan with her. Still, I don’t know if she is ok with camping out as much as I am. She seems ok right now but I’m better at reading pokemon than people so what do I know?

We made it through Mt. Moon fairly quickly despite the circumstances. We had to take breaks a lot given my knee but that allowed me to catch a cleffa, a zubat, and a geodude. I nicknamed then Immortality, Egeking, and Orna, respectively. Yes I’m continuing with the mythological weapons trend. Well, Immortality’s name might not be so obvious, but her’s is a reference to the Crown of Immortality which is often portrayed as a ring of stars. Since cleffa kind of look like stars I thought it was appropriate. Egeking is the legendary sword Sir Graham wielded. No real significance on that one but I thought the name sounded cool so I went with it. And then finally, Orna is the sword of the Fomorian king Tethra. It supposedly recounts the deeds done with it when unsheathed. I’m not exactly sure what’s meant by that but since I expect my geodude to be somewhat of a tank and deal back all the damage ever been dealt to it, I thought it was somewhat appropriate.

So, right now Altea and I are camping out on the Cerulean side of Mt. Moon. It’s pretty peaceful out, I’ll give it that. The moon is beautiful tonight and the stars have never sparkled so brightly. Maybe it’s because we’re so high in the sky. I’m not sure to be honest, but whatever it is, it is making the stars sparkle like someone just washed them. A sight like this makes me never want to leave, but I have a mission I need to complete and I can’t let the Kimono Girls down, or Ho-oh. I was given this egg and charged to give it to a man named Max. I think I’ve met him, or at least seen him, a few times before but it’s been so long that I have no idea if what I remember him to be is still accurate. After all, I do have one of the worst memories ever. Altea’s been great in the encouragement department. She’s been telling me not to give up, that we’ll find him, but I’m worried. What if the egg hatches before we find this Max guy? What if we never find him? I can’t fail a legendary pokemon or my mentors. Then I’ll never become a Kimono Girl. And while I’m not completely sure if that’s what I want, it is… oh sorry journal. It looks like I’ll have to wrap up for now. The ground just shook like an earthquake hit us and there was this huge flash of light just now. Altea wants to investigate to make sure no one was hurt. I agree with her so until next time.

This is Sloane Thomson Jackson, signing off.
