Everything was dark, silent. She didn’t know what was going on, couldn’t understand why she couldn’t see anything. All she knew was the numbness, the heaviness of her body, and the unending darkness around her, but knew not what it was that had happened, what caused it. She also couldn’t even recall who she was, for the moment.

Before she could stress too much about it, she felt a jolt through her body.

“Come on, live!” she heard, barely. It sounded like it was coming through water, but she still managed to catch those words, and the emotion behind them. She recognised the voice, even if she didn’t immediately know who it was. As she felt another jolt course through her, heard another exclamation from whomever was there, the pieces of her life started to fall back into place.

She couldn’t move, everything was still numb, heavy, but she know who it was she heard. She heard her father, and he was trying to revive her, and trying hard.

‘Oh please succeed, father.’ Was all she could think as she fought to move. Nothing was working, and it didn’t take long before she felt herself starting to fade again. There was a darkness around her that was threatening to swallow her whole… but she knew that she couldn’t fight it. She couldn’t fight anything for the moment, after all.

‘I’m so sorry….’ She thought, her mental voice fading as it seemed everything around her was, before everything went black.

The sun was setting, casting everywhere the light hit in a warm, orange, glow. In the room, there was a small form on the bed, she looked rough, extremely pale to the point of looking ashen, with pale blonde hair. She looked as if she’d been tucked in by someone who cares immensely for her, and she stayed there for a few days.

When she woke, she carefully sat up and looked around.

“I…” She started before looking to her hands, not sure what it was to make of it. The last thing she remembered was being swallowed by the darkness, the void, the emptiness that had been surrounding her. It devoured every piece of her, and left nothing behind… was this heaven?

She carefully got to her feet, not sure of how easy, or difficult, an act that it would be. She found it to be far easier than expected, and she was quite surprised that she found perfectly fine. Her chest didn’t hurt, as it had been before… Her thoughts froze as she looked toward the mirror hanging on the bedroom wall.

‘My chest is fine… unlike before, when it constantly hurt.’ She thought, approaching the mirror almost hesitantly. She didn’t know what to expect finding, but as she met the gaze of her reflection, she realised exactly what happened.

She had died, painfully. Her father had been broken, and she’d agreed to let him try.

So he did.

She was now a zombie, and was okay with it.
