Harvest festival

"Harvest festival, harvest festival!"
Piyo's excitement about the harvest festival was something her neighbors had been enduring during the days prior to such a long-awaited date. Piyo had covered the surroundings of his house with autumn leaves and he had decorated it as autumnly as possible, because this was his favourite season. For the festival he had prepared an oven-baked pumpkin, but the others did not know how to bake the pumpkin without adding anything! It seems that the other Pacapillar mashed it and mixed it with sugars, perhaps they did not have such tasty pumpkins as those from Piyo's garden. He wrapped the pumpkin very carefully and placed it in a basket. The whole thing was heavy, but Piyo's emotion gave him the energy to carry it without noticing its weight. He left the house and went to the town plaza, which was decorated with many trees dressed in Autumn.

Eventually, the pacapillars with whom I was meeting appeared. The first was Dumpling. Piyo could smell from a distance the delicious aroma of her freshly prepared cinnamon cookies. Piyo got red when she realized he was drooling. It was such an sweet and cozy aroma... Dumpling approached and greeted Piyo very happily, but before she could say anything more, they saw Cachito approaching. When he reached them, he gave each of them a shy hug and showed them the inside of his basket with a smile on his face: a pile of little cupcakes with gingerbread! Piyo had never tasted them before, and he couldn't help but to wonder how delicious they tasted. They even looked like the most adorable cupcakes in the world!

Only Sachet was still to come. The three bales began to wonder what was taking her so long, when all of sudden... "Aaaaaah!!" Sachet gave them a good scare from behind. She was so fast that her lavender essence did not alert them early enough. They all laughed, although Dumpling insisted that she preferred no more scares for today, and we all decided to postpone them until Halloween. Sachet had prepared macarons with, of course, lavender flavor. They had small decorations with the shape of flowers, and everyone admired how delicate and refined they looked.

The four of them got going, and they were so busy telling each other how they had prepared their sweets that they walked the road to the festival almost without realizing it. It was held in a forest clearing at the outskirts of the village. They were surrounded by trees with red, orange and yellow leaves, and among them they hung thousands of lanterns that would illuminate them at night with a warm light. In the clearing there were very long tables, where each pacapillar left the food they had prepared thanks to the harvest of this year. Everything looked exquisite, they thought as they walked along the tables looking for an opening to leave their dishes. "It's almost sad that they're going to be eaten...", Piyo thought, although his stomach didn't share that opinion. Little by little the area was filled with more and more pacapillars, with more and more food. There was a welcome speech, accompanied by a small show and the beginning of music, which invited those present to taste the food and socialize.

The afternoon was approaching and Piyo could not be happier: he was surrounded by delicious food and friends, accompanied by warm lights and a sunset in oranges and mauves. He sighed happily as he took another bite of his baked sweet potato. He savoured the sweet tuber while he wished he lived in a neverending autumn....
