Betrayal

The mood was tense in Tesei's home, while the sun shimmered gently trough the windows in the living room and the smell of tea wafted around the area, things felt very off. An uncomfortable silence had filled the room as soon as the centaur left them to tend to their library. They trusted their children wouldn't make a mess and burn down the house while they were gone. Eventually the silence was broken by the sound of a spoon stirring in a porcelain cup held by Estriis.

''I have visited you before, in the orphanage. But I did not think it was my place to mess with your lives.'' He said, his voice sounding calm. He was much calmer in demeanor compared to the hostile looks he was getting from one of the Avarris opposite to him.

''You could've helped us! You could have saved us years of abuse!'' Cassius yelled, standing up and stomping down on the glass-inlaid coffee table between the three. The table protested under the pressure that was put on it. ''Cassius-'' His sister protested but was quickly shot down by her twin. ''You could have taken us to safety and saved us so much of the shit we had to endure!'' He said, stepping up on the table to kick off the various small vases and trinkets that were placed on it prior, breaking most of them. Some items nearly hit the other Skarrid in the face but were nimbly dodged. ''You are a terrible person! If this was my house I would have kicked you out and changed the locks!''

Estriis watched as Cassius went on a tantrum about how rough their first few years were, silently sipping on his tea and sighing when he seemed to be finished and wheezing. ''Are you done?'' He asked ''You must understand that if I was aware of the severity of your situation, I would have taken you away.''

''Then why didn't you, you spider bastard!'' Cassius immediately replied, not even giving the other Skarrid the time to finish his sentence. ''You watched after us, why didn't you take action sooner!'' He exclaimed.
''Cassius. Sit down, please.'' Calixis told her brother. She was doing her best to keep him from actually physically lashing out towards their guest. She felt her brother's rage and tried not to get swept up by it as well, but she could feel herself balling her fists and breathing in a more annoyed manner.

''Please indulge us Estriis, why did you not take us from that orphanage, even if nothing seemed to be wrong. It's your duty to look after the other Skarrid, is it not?'' She asked ''Why allow this to happen to us in the first place? Why risk us falling in the hands of bad people?''

Estriis sighed and held his cup in his lap, lowering his arms.
