Hack let out a sigh, seemingly out of sadness. She was just taking a walk around the outside of the Labyrinth’s border, the dark shadows casted by the trees and thick foliage disallowing her to be unable to see but a few feet inside the strange forest. It was the holiday season, a time of festivities, family, friends, and cheer. But, not for the grey-brown cat. She was alone this year, as her family have long since left. Or, well, she thought she was alone. The thought of not spending time with her family only saddened her.
Well, that is until she saw two rather cold looking blue eyes in the forest, that is. The silhouette of the figure looked almost to be shaped like a wild canine, like a wolf or a fox. It was hard to distinguish what the exact species was but the feline could definitely tell that he was, in fact, a canine, even though the only truly visible thing . And it was easy to tell that he was an older male, due to his stance and stature.
“W-who are you?!” Hack yowled, almost in kind of in a panic. She seemed to have forgotten about her own loneliness in that instance. Her thoughts were focused on the canine figure in front of her.
“That doesn’t really seem important at the minute,” the figure said, blinking. His demeanor was rather calm, especially around the panicked feline. His rather chilly eyes continued to keep themselves on Hack. “Now, from what I can tell, you’re alone this Christmas season, yes?”
“Y-yes, that’s correct..” Hack said, taking a small step back. She was still quite intimidated by the shadowy figure, as she didn’t recognize him. And plus, what did this canine want from her? She couldn’t tell what his intentions were, especially with how hidden he was.
“I understand that,” the canine in the shadows said. His voice had a serious tone to it, though, there was some kindness laced within his words. “Just because you’re alone for the holidays this year, doesn’t mean you’ll be alone forever.”
Hack was silent. She didn’t know how to respond to the figure’s words of comfort. It was… strange. This unidentifiable canine was trying to… comfort her? After mulling over these strange thoughts, she finally got the courage to respond again.
“W-well, I guess that is true..” Hack mewed, still somewhat surprised that this person comforted her during a time of loneliness, despite them not knowing a single thing about each other. But even then, it was still good to have some sort of words to mull over during a bad time.
“Just trust me on this, I know that you won’t be alone forever, even if it doesn’t feel like it,” He said, seemingly starting to disappear into the woods again. “Remember, you’re not alone.”
Soon enough, the figure turned fully around and started to walk off into the forest, leaving Hack to be a little happier than before.
