Xia x Rosso

“Come on Xia, give me a chance!” 

Rosso whined as he followed at the heels of the lioness. 

It had all started when the Queen saved him from a near death encounter in some river currents. He had just left his old pride but was not ready for the wild and the dangers which came with it. Every day, without fail, Xia would check on him in the medic’s den. Each day they would talk, sometimes for hours. They would talk about anything, serious, silly, even the weather. It didn’t take long for Rosso to realise how different Xia was, she wasn’t like all the other female lions he had known, she was confident and could keep up in a fight, yet she was compassionate and caring towards everyone, even strangers such as himself. It did not take long for the male to grow smitten with her and as much as Xia would never admit it would never admit it, she felt the same. 

As soon as Rosso was well enough to leave the medic’s den the two were out doing different activities around the pride together, any excuse to spend extra time together before the end of the day where they would have to depart to their separate dens. After a couple of months Rosso decided they had spent enough time together and were close enough to become mates. Later that evening Rosso finally built up his courage and asked the question. Xia, being the mischievous lioness, decided to tease him a little. “You’ll have to work harder than that honey.” 

Of course, Xia was completely captivated by him, she just liked playing hard to get. Since then the two spend all day bickering with the red male always a few steps behind the smirking lioness but at the end of the day they would both snuggle together in Xia’s den, happy and in love.
