Sometimes, you wake up to your boyfriend being ridiculously soft, and yet, you don't want to get up. Not yet. (OCxCanon, originally written on 4/12. It's messy. Leave me be.)

This is purely messy and I'm probably not going to make it any cleaner. It's a silly cute thing I wrote last night after a nice birthday.

Coryn often woke with his mind on something -- sometimes that "something" happened to be music, a melody he would recognize and proceed to have in his head all day. This phenomenon was way too fucking common, and tended to be at its worst when he was tired.

Today's was...strangely appropriate.

Brown eyes drowsily opened as the first keys of a piano sounded in his mind, the first notes of a song with lyrics he could recall easily any other time. Something about shaking hands, a shortcut, running because the singer was late for class, a soft lilting voice beckoning the listener deeper into the dark.

And yet, the words were lost as Coryn's gaze locked with Kaeya's blue eyes with only a slight brush of the other man's fingers under his chin. The look on Kaeya's face almost made him feel as if he were dreaming, such a soft and tender look in his eyes that he hadn't seen his lover give to anyone else.

"Good morning, sleeping beauty."

As soon as Coryn felt the gloved hand against his cheek, he couldn't help but lean into it, murmuring something even he couldn't comprehend. He was still sleepy, although the feeling of Kaeya's thumb gently rubbing against his cheek made him feel almost sleepier. No, almost like he was in a dream.

It was only then that he realized how close they were, and he remembered what had happened before Coryn had finally fallen asleep.

"Staying up again...? You make me worry."

"Fuck! I...sorry." Coryn rubbed one of his eyes, yawning. "Didn' mean to. How long has it been...?"

"Certainly more time than a shift would require." Kaeya smiled, even as he sat beside Coryn. "I think by now we'd have figured the coast was clear, hm?"

"Oh...yeah. You're right." The younger man moved to stand up, before feeling Kaeya's hand take his. "...huh?"

"It's a nice night. How about you drift asleep to the sight of the stars with me?"

"I..." He could feel his face grow warm, a sign he'd recognized as when he was blushing at leastĀ a bright pink. "I...yeah. That sounds nice..."

As he moved close to Kaeya, he allowed the blue-haired man to guide his head to rest on his chest. Kaeya's heartbeat lulled him to sleep rather easily at that point, a steady thump, thump, thump in his ears.

"Still sleepy, hm? Well, we're in no rush." Kaeya's voice was soft, his head tilting and allowing his hair to shift as well, briefly revealing the patch over his eye. "...I could look at you all day like this."

"...mmm...you shouldn't." The remark had slipped out before he could properly compose the sentence. Realizing how it could sound, Coryn tried again. "We...gotta keep moving."

"A few minutes more won't hurt. Besides, if you tried walking, I doubt you'd get very far." Kaeya's free hand eased under his chin, his gaze breaking briefly, even as a smirk blossomed on his features. "...the idea of carrying you doesn't sound so bad, though."

"H-hey...I can stand..." The sound of his voice burdened with sleep almost made it seem like a joke, although he was too tired to even manage a pout. "...I jus'...don't wanna."

"Then it's settled...a few minutes more for my sleeping beauty?"

"...y-yeah...when you...put it that way." His face was *burning*, but when wasn't it when Kaeya was so teasing like this? "Eesh...you drive a hard bargain..."

"Is it even a bargain? I think it's a statement of fact." Kaeya chuckled. "You look like you're going to fall asleep at any moment."

"An' whose fault is that...?"

"Hm. I suppose I can take someĀ responsibility there." That mischievous twinkle somehow didn't break the soft expression his boyfriend held, although Coryn wasn't sure how. "It's all right. You're safe with me. I won't let anything happen to you."

Coryn blinked, before giving a sigh as he relaxed more fully against the other man. "...I know, my prince. I know."
