Talon roared. His presence could be felt all across Asosa and Soslia. He stood on one side of the battlefield staring down the opposition with a look that could kill.

On the opposite side, Reina stood her ground alongside her apprentice, Tiira. Tiira hoped she would hesitate, but Reina took a step forward to acknowledge her presence to Talon.

“Ah, the mighty light goddess,” Talon mocked, “Care to explain how you plan on defeating me?”

“I wish not to fight anymore,” pleaded Reina, “We can come to terms and forget our pasts. Starting anew would be the most reasonable course of action.”

Talon stomped his foot in anger. “Reasonable?! The relics were rightfully mine! The power, the control, and the feeling of superiority was something we shared together and you know it!”

“Your heart was not in the right place after our clash, Talon! If only you could understand the consequences of your actions. The crystal that was formed from our overwhelming abilities. You cannot hog the power for yourself!”

“Silence, wench!”

Talon unleashed a burst of flame from his mouth to which Reina absorbed its power with ease. “If you wish to defy me as I rise,” Talon cried out, “Then you shall fall!”

In an instant, Reina and Talon came to blows. Tiira flew back, hitting the ground next to Emerald and her group of friends who could only watch in horror as the two gods clashed with one another.

Each punch. Each kick. Reina defended while Talon attacked. It was sickening, Emerald thought to herself. To see such a benevolent goddess unable to lift a finger against Talon. One more mighty blow made Reina’s arms open wide. Talon landed a powerful uppercut on the light goddess. She slammed into the rocks of Soslia, causing tremors that made the surrounding boulders around the arena fall towards Emerald and her friends.

“Everyone scatter!” Emerald yelled and leaped forward and then off to the side so her friends could get some space to leap with her. Drayven never left her side, hopping in sync.

Bosko held Dawn as they jumped together. Veena and Paramore made a quick air-dash forward away from the rocky debris.

Reina slowly got to her feet. Her body began to glow with light. Talon’s began to glow with darkened inferno.

The two unleashed respective beams of light and darkness towards each other, causing an explosion that engulfed Soslia in its wrath.

When the rubble was clear, a crystal could be seen in clear view along with an opening to the world outside of the cavern with the moon aglow and shining down upon them all.

Talon growled at Reina. “How dare you! I will make you pay after all these years!”

“You will not succeed!” Reina screamed, unleashing another powerful beam of light at Talon, to which he held out his hand and absorbed its power. It was more taxing to him than Reina, but effective nonetheless.

Drayven held Emerald in her arms when they opened their eyes. They were covered in rubble, as well as the rest of Emerald’s friends. Tiira flew down to them to make sure they were all okay. “I’m so sorry for all of this, my friends,” she said, hiding a sob, “This is all my fault...”

“No,” Emerald said, putting a hand on Tiira’s shoulder, “You had nothing to do with it. It’s Talon. He is so enraged that he can’t think clearly anymore.”

“If these two keep fighting,” Tiira explained, “Then Soslia may cease to be. It may become a crystal, and who knows after that?”

Emerald gasped. “Well, we have to do something,” she panicked, “These two can’t keep going blow for blow forever!”

Suddenly, Emerald heard a yapping noise. She looked down at her feet to notice two little chihuahuas: One with reading glasses and the other with a blue scarf. The two little dogs yapped once more. The one with glasses barked seemingly high in pitch, while the other barked like they had phlegm in their throat.

Dawn stood up and knelt down at the two chihuahuas. She pet both of them on the head for a few seconds. When she was done, however, she sniffed her hands. The scent of fox was on both of them. “Chris? Chrissy?”

The chihuahua with glasses spoke in English, “Guess we can’t fool all of you, huh?” With that, the two chihuahuas glowed a pink-ish aura and began to change forms. The one with glasses turned into a Zorua named Chris, while the other changed into a Zoroark named Chrissy. Chris the Zorua hopped up onto Chrissy the Zoroark’s shoulder and chuckled.

“Chris!” Emerald snagged Chris off of Chrissy and held him by the fluff on his neck. “What are you both doing here? You’re not supposed to be here! This isn’t your world!”

“He wanted to visit,” said Chrissy, “And I guess Glodis got the transporter mixed up. So, we’re here now.” She looked over to Reina and Talon who were still at odds with one another. “I’m guessin’ we came at a bad time, huh?”

“Hell yeah,” Bosko spoke up, “You chose the worst time! You didn’t even bring your smokin’ hot friend of the same name with ya.” The next thing Bosko felt was a backhand to the head courtesy of Dawn.

“That’s a long story,” Chris started to explain, “You see, Chrissy’s not-”

Before Chris could continue, a hurricane force wind caused by an explosion of Reina and Talon’s doing sent them all flying back a few feet.

The fire around the heroes began to weaken, dimming the battlefield into better focus.

Talon and Reina stared each other down for a brief moment before clashing with each other shoulder against shoulder. Blown back by their intense power, they grew more sick of each other with every passing second.

Everyone around them were just spectators in a battle that could spell disaster for their lives. Tiira, a bit dazed after hitting the ground, sat up and crawled over to Emerald, saying, “Emerald, we need to do something fast, or else this world is done for!”

Emerald panicked. “I don’t know what to do! Fighting Talon is a death wish right now. Without the relics, we won’t survive!”

“Don’t worry, Emerald. We will be okay. I’m here.” Drayven spoke up and put an arm around Emerald, to which she curdled into his chest.

Bosko and Dawn held each other close, having no other choice but to watch the chaos unfold.

Chris and Chrissy were in shock of what was going on. They thought about what they could do. Sure, fighting alongside everyone was a guarantee, but a victory wasn’t assured for them. Talon had cunning abilities and powers that they could only dream to have. Chrissy looked down at Chris. He had fallen off of her when they got flown back. He was just as upset about the fighting as she was.

Reina, now charged with the power of light, spoke out. “It’s time to finish this, Talon!”

Talon spoke out too, infused with the power of fiery darkness. “I’ve waited years for this!”

Chris took a step forward. “Chris,” Emerald asked, “What are you doing?”

With a monotone voice, Chris answered, “I’m going to stop this.” Before he could take a step more, he felt himself get picked up off of the ground. Then, he was hurled over to Tiira, who caught him on instinct.

Chrissy looked over to Tiira and gave a thumbs-up gesture despite her claws. She asked Tiira without fear, “Take care of him for me, okay?”

Without another word, Chrissy dashed out to the center of the battlefield where Reina and Talon were beginning to unleash powerful beams of light and darkness towards each other.

Chris screamed for his big sister. He jumped out of Tiira’s grasp, but he didn’t get too far before Emerald snatched him up quickly. “Chrissy, wait! No!” Chris’ screams echoed in Emerald’s eardrums. Tiira’s eyes widened along with everyone else. Chrissy didn’t listen. She just kept running.

Chrissy raised her arms up as they began to radiate a dark red aura. She leaped into the air. She screamed at the top of her lungs.

Cut it out!”

She had just made it to the center between Reina and Talon before the beams of light and darkness collided. Chrissy slammed her arms down onto the ground, creating a pulsating explosion of dark energy. The powerful beams from Reina and Talon pushed against the dark energy explosion. What hopes she had to suppress the attacks were fruitless. The beams broke through the explosion and turned it into a powerful blast of light and darkness. Chrissy was trapped in the crossfire.

“No! Chrissy!” Chris cried out for his sister, flailing around in Emerald’s grasp. The rest of the group shielded their eyes from the light that the energy created.

The energy dissipated. From the smoke and debris was Chrissy, burned, wounded beyond repair, but still standing like nothing had happened for a brief moment. Then, she fell to her knees and let out one last groan of pain before collapsing onto her stomach. She was motionless. Reina and Talon were bewildered.

“What a fool,” chided Talon, “What was she hoping to accomplish getting in our way like that?”

Reina’s previous anger towards Talon turned into concern for Chrissy as she witnessed Emerald and her friends running up to their fallen friend.

Chris was the first to make it, having jumped out of Emerald’s hold on him. He looked at Chrissy’s face. Her eyes were shut and her mouth was slightly open. First instinct was for him to shake her awake.

“Sis,” Chris asked softly to her fallen sister, “Are you okay?”

No response.

“Come on, bigfoot, you’ve tanked worse than this.” Bosko quipped, trying to make light of the situation, but it only led to him being punched in the gut by Drayven.

Chris continued to shake Chrissy’s body, hoping for a reaction. Something. Anything. “Chrissy, please. Are you okay? Speak to me. Tell me you’re okay.”

Dawn held her hand over her mouth and leaned into Bosko’s side. Trying not to make the situation any lighter, he put a hand on Dawn’s head and pet her hair gently.

Drayven was awestruck. He hadn’t even known Chrissy. To him, she was just the big sister to Chris. He never thought she would be capable of what Chris had done before. She had a good heart after all.

Tears welled up in Chris’ eyes as he quickly turned to face Emerald. “Please, you’ve got to do something,” he pleaded. Emerald got an idea right away. She used the green emerald hanging from her necklace to try and restore Chrissy’s energy. It made her body glow, but it did not restore her. She tried again, and again, and again. Each time she did this, she could feel tears welling up in her own eyes and her hope fading.

The tears that Chris had in his eyes began to fall on Chrissy’s face. “Come on, Chrissy, don’t do this...” he sobbed, “You’re my everything. I can’t be myself without you! Please, wake up! Wake up!”

Tiira knelt down next to Chris. “I am sorry, but… she’s...”

“No!” Chrissy turned and screamed into Tiira’s face. “Chrissy’s stronger than this! I know she is! I love her! She can’t die!” Chris’ sobs turned into full-on bawling as he launched himself onto Tiira for some kind of hug or comfort.

Emerald looked away, her heart breaking at the sight of seeing Chris as a sobbing mess. Dawn burst into tears herself at seeing Chris so heartbroken.

Drayven and Bosko both looked down and away. Veena and Paramore did the same thing, only they gave angered looks to Talon.

Chris broke the hug with Tiira and nuzzled his face against Chrissy’s. He cried one more time, “Chrissy, please wake up!”

Reina’s body began to glow with a light warmth. “Chris the Zorua...”

Chris stopped sobbing at the sound of Reina’s voice.

With a gentle twinkle, Reina used the power of the stars to surround Chris, Emerald, and the others with a warm healing light. It felt like going into a spa room, worries and fears washed away.

Chris sniffled, watching Reina continue using this light to heal the heroes and make them feel at peace.

Suddenly, Chrissy’s body began to glow and gently float up into the air. As soon as it was high enough, it glowed with an even brighter light that burst into color. Chris watched it all in awe.

When the light dissolved, Chrissy gently floated down onto the ground. Chris held his breath.

Chrissy’s ear twitched. Emerald gasped. Chris blinked in disbelief.

Chrissy slowly opened her eyes and blinked. She looked around for a moment before turning her immediate attention to Chris. He looked like he had seen a ghost. “Hey bro,” Chrissy weakly said, “I’m okay.”

Chris immediately ran into Chrissy’s forehead, then he nuzzled her cheek and let her wrap an arm around him. He sobbed, but it was tears of joy this time. Emerald and Dawn joined the hug. Chrissy didn’t care how many people hugged her. As long as she hugged her little brother, she was as happy as could be.

Bosko and Drayven both smirked and looked at each other, relieved about the whole situation. Veena and Paramore smiled warmly, relieved.

“So, what did I miss?” Chrissy asked, making Emerald and Dawn chuckle.

Reina looked up at Talon. “I wish to make amends, Talon. I do not wish for any more confrontation. Compromise is a value of life I wish to help you understand in regards to the current situation, but only if you are willing.”

Talon hesitated at first, but after seeing what had conspired, he groaned. “Fine. I will hear your words, but I do not forgive easily.”

Reina smiled, much to Talon’s annoyance. She looked down at Emerald and the group. “Thank you all for your help.”

Chrissy gave another thumbs-up gesture and said, “No problem!”

Reina turned around, ready to talk to Talon, but then quickly turned back around. “Oh, Chris?”

Chris swallowed his breath. “Yes, goddess Reina?”

“If what I hear is correct, please do not endanger yourself like your sister just did all of the time. It wears on everyone.”

Chrissy, Emerald, Dawn, Bosko, Drayven, Veena, Paramore, Tiira, and even Talon could not have laughed harder at that request.

Author's Notes

Thanks for reading! This was originally a story in two parts, but I combined it into two and edited it so that Chrissy was included and had a more prominent role. I hope you like it, and a special thanks to EmeraldKamala for allowing me to write about her characters!
