This is my original version from when the event was open/active, completely unedited. I plan on perhaps rewriting it as my writing has improved a good bit since then.

Chapter 2: Where Clouds Fade Into Snow

Ev walked closer to the shrine after greeting their new mouse friend, feeling a strange connection to the creature. They gazed at the token they had fixed, feeling glee at the fact they had helped to forgotten shrine become whole again. Soon a thick mist begins to gather around Ev, it causes them to panic and they begin to attempt running into the forest to get away. Their vision begins to swim and they become very tired, feeling as though their energy is being drained from their body. They feel their energy become drained and the world swims as they pass out, feeling a call right before they pass out.

What feels like hours later, Ev awakes to a snow sight. They find themself on the peak of a snowy mountain after their eyes adjust, looking in shock at their surroundings. I’m just being swept all over aren’t I? They gaze out to the beautiful sight of the grand mountain range before them, covering miles of land and showing hints of lush greenery far away. The sun shines bright in the sky, causing the snow to alight in what looks like a heavenly light, the higher peaks touching the sky as clouds circle around them. After a good while of admiring the wonderful landscape in front of them, they feel a call very similar to what they felt in the jungle. It felt like a series of soft chimes, similar to a bell harmonious ringing. Ev turned toward the direction of the call, spotting a sparse grove of pine trees with a path inside. They followed the path, noticing the trees looks sickly and frail which caused Ev to worry for the poor things, some even had broken branches or trunks. Following a short walk, they reached a alcove in the mountain side where they felt another call coming from inside the alcove and decided to enter.

Inside they found another shrine, there are old ruined talismans and long forgotten offerings sitting in front of it. Ev notices that this shrine also has a broken token, far worse than the first one. Such a poor thing, let’s get you fixed up. No one deserves to be left broken and forgotten, it must hurt. They approach the shrine, feeling it call out again, and begin to gather their energy to help the shrine. As they gather their energy, they feel the shrine seem to hold a breath in excitement as it awaits to be fixed. Ev finally gathers their energy and pours it into the pieces of the token, pulling them together and connecting the broken edges back together. The shrine is thrumming with energy as it’s token gets fixed, once Ev fixes the token and it is placed within the indent in the shrine they can feel a pulsing heartbeat rhythm coming from it. Once the token is connected, the world bursts with colors originating from the shrine. The colors dazzled Ev, causing them to watch awe as the mountain bursts back to life. The trees in the grove just outside on the alcove grow new buds and the old and broken branches and needles fall to make way for the new. The old branches and needles were carried away by a gust of wind, it seemed as if life was being breathed back into the mountain after so long without it.

Wow, this is… Gorgeous… I see why other travel often, they get to see all these beautiful sights. But i’d hate to leave my home for long, leaving to explore the city caused me to die and become this spirit. But it does have its perks I suppose. Ev gazes out onto the mountain range, their now at one of the highest peaks on the mountain so they have an amazing view of the world nearby. They can see other pine groves at lower points of the mountain come to life again after so long. There was a valley at the foot of the mountain far below, they could see a river and lush forests as well as specks that they believed to be animals. Ev realized they lost their new mouse friend when they were taken here, thought they could feel the presence of them far away. They must be like those animals that i’ve seen others has in the conservatory, but some have cool ghost like ones that look so interesting. But I know i’ll like my new mouse friend once I can get to know them when I get home! Ev looked up at the sky, watching the swirling clouds that were being pushed by the gusts of wind. They noticed a flock of birds flying by the mountain peak they were on, they watched in interest and wondered if they’d be whisked away somewhere else soon or if they’ll get to return home after their done enjoying the view here.
