update: The artwork and some details may not be 100% accurate to Lemres's current iteration but most of this is still very much accurate.

The sun was hitting the earth as hard as ever, burning the yellow grass that sprinkled the american desert. The dry air and scorched ground was not kind to most wild life of Earth. Enters Lemres, a blue haired phoslyte from one of Mars moon. If scorpions and coyote had trouble surviving in the heat, a being whose entire life was spent in artificial domes away from the sun’s harsh ray would probably have a hard time. Lemres pretty much crashed here a day ago and was still having issues adjusting. His ship was mostly okay and the crash was more of an emergency slightly-uncontrolled landing. It wasn’t capable of full flight anymore but the hover mode was still somewhat usable which is what Lemres had to use to move it away and hide it from human eyes. If he had left it in the middle of the desert he’d hade surely been spotted and captured by the local forces. Right now the saucer was parked in an abandoned ghost town and draped in fabric so even flying eyes wouldn’t spot it right away.

The phoslyte fanned himself with his hands, the temperature truly was getting to him. Lobo was very different from how it was back on Phobos. Mars’s biggest moon was a barren and inhospitable place initially but with technology the phoslytes created biodomes, recreated day/night light cycles and grew plants making Phobos a great home to live in for the most part. Both their original genetic disposition and them never seeing natural sunlight at home gave them very pale skin that would easily fry while on Earth, Lemres was feeling it. He brushed his gently glowing hair away from his forehead and adjusted his amber glasses before going back to his task. He was fixing a shade orb, once it was working condition it would hover above his head and create an immaterial dark disk that would provide the man with constant shade. A portable fan would be nice to have as well.

The reason Lemres wasn’t prepared for these condition was because landing in the desert wasn’t his plan, he had crashed after all. He didn’t plan to land in american at all to be frank, his goal was Europe actually. You see Lemres was captivated by was fairies, mermaids and other creatures from fantasy books. Many though he was silly for believing in such things, but it wasn’t everybody’s opinion. Those who believed always reverted to the same argument; lots of humans make fun of the minority of their kind who hold belief in aliens. They thought that maybe the situation here was the same, that fairy tale creatures were real but mostly stayed in hiding like Phoslytes did, perhaps they erased people’s memory of them like the both factions of Greys were known to do, or maybe even they lived amongst human unnoticed like some Nordics did. America still had its fair share of fantasy beings and cryptids he could look for and study but it just wouldn’t be the same. Back home human history was a required course, it include both past history and current affaires so Lemmy was well aware of how Americans and human in general could be dangerous. He heard plenty of rumors regarding Area 51 and wasn’t interested in being relocated there. Phoslytes at large weren’t particularly violent but it doesn’t mean they were helpless, Lemres was somewhat ready to fight back if human conflict were to arise. Packed with the purchase of the ship were two weapons: a long stun baton and a blade. Both of these tools would need for the Phoslyte wielder to plug his head-tendrils into the hilt with an extended cable for them to work. These weapons use the phoslyte’s natural electricity generation to provide the tasing effect of the stun baton and create the blade part of the sword.

“Come on! Just cooperate with me will you!” He exclaimed in Whispholin, his native tongue. “I'm cooking under this sun!”

Lemres's exposed skin was tinted purple which contrasted from the bright white that was visible around his eyes the few moments he took his glasses off to wipe his face. It was quite the nasty sunburn and that shade orb would have prevented it. It wouldn't provide shade the way an umbrella would; with a regular umbrella you would have to worry about light angles and shadow orientations but with a shade orb you would be shielded from any direction as if it created a pillar of darkness under its disk. The phoslyte rubbed his sore shoulders, he had been trying to fix it all morning and was nearly ready to give up. He sighed, let’s try one more time he tough to himself, if it doesn’t work leave it alone. This time around he’d make sure everything was exactly where it needed to be, all the wires were soldered and no short circuits would happen. He was so focused on the task at hand that he didn't notice he was being watched.

Leaned against one of the broken down building was a tall man with long black hair. He sported the same amber glasses as Lemres did but it was clear he wasn’t a fellow Phoslyte. For the untrained eye he seemed to be an abnormally tall and skinny human being but for someone more observant the oddly stretched body proportions and dark eyes would confirm it was merely a disguise. The mysterious man walked toward the distracted phoslyte. He peaked over his shoulder examining what the blue-haired man was exactly up to, still someone going completely unnoticed by the tinkerer.

“The blue wire is supposed to be soldered to the connector two notches further down” He stated in Lemres’s ear making him jump. “I can fix it for you if you want.”

The man wasn’t speaking Whispholin nor any of the languages Lemres had studied so far, yet he could understand him. Based on this fact alone He could tell he was in front of a Suan Grey. Both Zettan Greys and Suan Greys were capable of ‘universal communication’ thanks to their telepathic powers. Zettan being on the much shorter side of the spectrum it only made sense he was a Suan instead.

“Um… S-sure” Lemres stuttered. “That’s really nice of you…” He paused, expecting the phony cowboy to introduce himself.

unknown.png“Abok... And you are?”

“Uh… Lemres.”

“Good, good..” His voice was monotone yet friendly, he waved his new acquaintance aside, picking up the orb. He stared intensely at it, parts starting to move on their own. As he displayed his telekinetic abilities his disguise slipped. His human form was only an image he implanted in the brain of anyone looking more or less directly at him. Lemres has no doubt this man was well capable of both doing whatever he was doing with his orb and maintaining his disguise and was only revealing himself to him as a gesture of trust. Lemmy was about to comment on it when Abok spoke first. “I heard about you crashing yesterday. I came as soon as I could and  I’ve been observing you for quite a bit. I wanted to make sure you weren’t dangerous… Phoslytes never are to be frank.”

“Ah.. Y-yes.. We’re pretty harmless…”

“You did a decent job hiding your craft.”

“I tried my best…”

“I can tell you won’t be able to get it to fly for a while. It would need an Hidroflex Diopump replacement and it’s hard to come by here. I could try to reach out to some contact to get you one. In the mean time do you have a human disguise? Do you speak any English? You’ll need it.”

“I.. I don’t.. I was planning on landing in Europe in some dense forest and stay hidden there… I only know French and Latin when it comes to human tongues… I…”

“It’s fine. Here!” He tossed the now working orb to the martian. “Phoslytes can somewhat pass as humans. With the abundance of hair-dyeing and body-modification people do nowadays you might come off as just an eccentric human. A change of clothes could help you not stick out too much.” His disguise faded back in and he brushed his long locks to the side. Lemres knew the hair was’t actually there but Abok played the part perfectly. He knew how to make his fake appearance look as real as possible. “Ill fetch you something more fitting” He said flicking his technically-non-existent hat. “Stay put!”

Lemres didn’t even have the time to answer that the Grey dissolved right before his eyes. His ship must have been nearby, their teleportation devices only worked at relatively short distances. He looked up trying to find it only to be met with the blinding light of the sun. It reminded him what he and Abok had been working on: the Shade orb. Lemmy reached into his hair and pulled a long purple cable out of the side of his head and proceeded to plug it into the orb. The device instantly started to glow a purplish pink and rose out of his hands. The metallic ball was now hovering right above his head. With a now constant source of shade, the wait for Abok’s return wouldn’t be as bad as what he endured the past day and morning.

Lemres sat on the ground The shade was nice but it was still hot. He looked at his ship wishing the cooling system hadn’t been busted in the crash. Unlike the the flying function it was fixable, he just needed to refill the water tank and weld shut two of the bursted pipes. The ghost town had a pond he could pull water from and he might be able to find suitable scrap metal to take care of the plumbing. Not having to stand directly in the sun while pumping and scavenging would be easier, that’s why he wanted to fix his shade orb before fixing the AC.

“Let’s get to work shall we!” He stood up and stretched, his floating metal orb following his every movements. “These house used to be lived in so they gotta have plumbing which mean there are plenty of pipe ripe for the taking!”

He looked down, hopefully there would be enough above ground that he wouldn't have to dig, that and he oped they would be copper pipes if any, PVC ones wouldn’t be of any help. He pulled up a device resembling a smart tablet. He toyed with it for a bit before looking around. It looked like he had opened a metal detecting app of sort. The biggest dot on his map seemed to point at a big water tank planted in the middle of the town, while the material was perfect he wasn’t sure he could take it down. He looked back at his portable screen before heading toward his next best bet as a source of scrap metal. There was a pub of some sort right next to his ship, he didn’t even have to walk in that he already found something: One of the big letter that formerly spelled ‘Lobo Texas’ on the front had fallen onto the ground and appeared to be made of brass. Maybe his AC would be fixed sooner than he thought.

He did end up spending a few hours fixing his plumbing and still had the water filling to do next when Abox finally came back. The Disguised Grey was holding quite a few things, he had the clothes he promised yes but he actually brought a bit more. He waited for the hammering sounds Lemres was making to stop before knocking on the wall of the ship. The hard-worker lifted his head and looked around. As he was rushing toward ‘savior’ Abok threw something at him, Lemres catching it awkwardly nearly dropping it.

“What is it?”

“A suggestion orb, it will help you learn English… Fast!”

“But I don’t really plan on interacting with hum-”

“They will find you alright, they always does somehow. You better be prepared!” He handed him a pocket knife. “I wouldn’t be surprised if a groups came here to do some ‘urban exploration’ to post on their Youtube channel. So really, you need to watch out. Not only that but If I heard about your crashing there is the possibility that some human ufologist did as well.”

“I.. okay”

“Are you alright food-wise?” The tan man asked as he gave the pale one the clothes, boots and fake ID he had gotten made. “If not I could get you in contact with a trust worthy human.. That Or you could try your luck with Uber Eats. Oh! Use this if you need to contact me.”

Lemres had no Idea what Youtube or UberEat were exactly, he probably heard those names spoken in some of the current affair classes but these were so far away in his memories that he couldn’t quite remember what they were about. Regardless he listened to what was to him wise words, Abok looked like a seasoned Earth explorer after all.

“I should have enough to eat for quite a bit, but Thanks! I will keep it in mind when I run out. That’s really nice of you to help me… you’re very sweet”

“I wouldn’t call myself sweet. We Suans have a moral and legal duty to help Phoslytes. It’s an obligation.” Hearing Abok’s words Lemres lowered his head “Don’t worry, it’s not a bother. It’s actually quite interesting to see one of your kind on Earth, it’s not a common sight! I will be sure to keep an eye on you and see if you manage to thrive.”

Lemmy should have expected this, Greys in general never really were loving altruist. At least the Suan variant did hold the moral duty of taking care of Phoslytes as part of an arrangement with the Nordics, not out of the kindness of their heart. Zettan Greys on the other hand would love to dissect them if it wouldn’t risk an inter-species war. Regardless of Abok’s intentions, Lemres should count his blessing, he now had a guardian angel he could call anytime he got into trouble and who could swoop in if things got dicey without him realising.

When the blue-haired man lifted his head back up to thank the grey a second time the cowboy was nowhere to be seen, he had once again beamed back to his ship. Lemres now had all he needed to survive on his own for a while and while the company of Abok would have been nice his initial plan did involve him being completely on his own. Time to stick to the plan and go solo on the cryptid searching.
