this is what i had for the original quip: "I wrote this short thingy in my writing journal the other day, and I wanted to put it to digital, since I kinda like it. I also needed to do a writing warm up before replying to my rps lol XD"

“No Steven, I don’t want to get up,” Orlove lazily moaned, as the little boy pulled at his finger. “There’s not really a point in getting up when you’ve lost the reason for getting up in the first place.” He let out a puff of smoke in protest, and threw his face back into his pillow.

Steven looked at the lump of a gem. In all honesty, he could relate to handling loss. After all, he never met his own mother, despite in a way, being his own mother. He coughed awkwardly, and frowned. But, Steven couldn’t just let Orlove lie in bed forever, now could he? That just wasn’t right in his eyes. Despite him seeming more emotionless than a robot, he was a person too, with his own feelings, with his own heart!

Cracking his knuckles, the persistent child started to climb onto the gem’s hand, it hanging right above the floor. Making his way up like a bug, he scrabbled the gem’s dark arm, and finally reaching the shoulder, he hobbled over to the pillow where Orlove had buried his face into. Orlove was far too big of a man to force him to move, he could easily squash Steven if he wanted with his size. Therefore, it would be better to use words from his heart.

“Hey, listen…I understand how you feel. It’s not like being a whole pie.” The thought of his mother Rose came to mind. Even now, it felt like he wasn’t a whole pie. “You feel like something’s gone wrong, and that it’s your fault.” Orlove peeked out from the side of his pillow, his attention now towards the tiny boy in front of him. Steven smiled weary, glad that he had gotten the big guy’s attention. “But, you can’t worry and focus on things that have already happened. You gotta keep going.”

Orlove’s throat rumbled a bit, fire sparking at the back of his mouth, caused by emotions finally starting to come out. “She was one of a kind, my treasure. You say it is time to move on, yet, why does it still hurt my heart? It still…it still hurts.” Steven nodded, and just listened to him. The touch of this diamond’s words, they were hurt like how Blue Diamond’s words were when he saw her for the first time. He would have to take it slow with him too.

“I think that everybody’s heart heals over time, but Orlove, your heart can’t heal if you don’t take the first step and at least try. Do you think that she would like to see you like this? If you can’t do it for yourself, then you do it for her.” Steven rolled off the pillow, and landed on the bed. Spotting the curtain rope of a large curtain next to the bed, and seeing that it was close to him, he leaped onto the end bulb of the rope, pulling the rope to the other side of the curtain. The heavy black cloth split ways, allowing bright sunlight to pour into the room and onto Orlove.

“I…I don’t know.” The dark gem glanced over, the light blinding his eyes as he adjusted to the new light. It seemed like something impossible, especially for him. Steven looked back at him. “You don’t know if you don’t try.” Orlove sighed, and slowly sat up on his bed. “I’ll do it for her.” His response made Steven smile, and gave him a bit of hope. There just really might be a chance of him being able to help this big guy.

“Great, now get some clothes on before Pearl gets in here. I don’t think she’ll like seeing you just in bat themed boxers.”
