Ruin stretched out along the beach as the sun warmed his fur. His tail had cut a deep swath in the sand as it had languidly moved back and forth, denoting the pleasure he felt on this hot day. The large taur sank his paws into the hat sand, feeling its soothing warmth as he sighed with contentment.

He often forgot how nice it was to sit on the shores, to hear the ocean waves at a safe distance, to take in the salty sea air, even if it was tinged with the scent of Fysa. His ears swiveled around pleasantly, taking in as many of the sounds as he could. It was rare for him to seek out peace, but lately he'd been craving an escape from the chaotic turn his life tended to take. Today, was about relaxation and self care.

He let his human torso lay down across his bestial legs, sun warming his dark back, and the wing gently tousling the fluffy violet mane that ran from the back of his neck to his taur body. As he sat there, his mind drifted to the first time he'd come here, to this very same beach. It was over one hundred years ago, when Ruin was but a small whelp. He had been brought by one of his mothers, a tall and soft rrex, she was heavyset and had kind eyes. An aegis, she had taken some time off work to spend with him, so this was a special treat! He was maybe 7or 8, and fondly remembered running along the beach as his mother chased him. They had spent all day there, laughing, building sand castles, playing make beleive, and having a little camp fire cookout that night.

A tear stung Ruin's eyes as he recalled this fond memory, causing a shakey sigh to escape his ragged chest. He remembered how that was one of the best days of his life, sitting on the shore with a freshly roasted fish on a stick, happily gnawing on it as his mother sat with him, watching the sun set and light the black ocean on fire with its golden rays. He remembered how warm her strong hand was as it tousled his hair, how she smelt of earth and Iron, and her smile lit up his heart like a firework. That night, they had lain on the beach, little Ruin curled up on his mothers chest as they watched the first stars crawl across their sky, and how he'd seen a shooting star.

Ruin's memory began to dim, as the day dream ended, and as that long ago moment faded away, he could still hear his mothers voice on the wind, tickling his ears, as his tired eyes now scanned the same sky.

"Make a wish, little cub, that star will carry it onwards till the end of days, where wishes come true."
