Every Storm

RenTheDragonElf

The rain poured down outside the cavern,a bitter wind blowing in and making lantern flames dance. It was rare for such heavy rain to fall in the Shadow Flight, much less the Driftwood Drag. Mala laid by the cavern entrance, her cloak pulled around her to offer warmth. The glamour wasn't up at the moment. During such rains, their home was a traveller's home.

((@RenTheDragonElf Ooh this seem like fun! Please say something if I do something wrong, though; I haven't rp'd in FR before.))

The rain had started suddenly - so suddenly that it had surprised Theala completely. Grimacing she beat her wings as fast as she could and muttered to herself.

"This will so be the last time I'll go fishing this far from home!" As a proof of her doings she did indeed squeeze a bag of fishes against her wet chest.

As soon as a cave entrance came to Theala's view, she made the decision every Ridgeback would do: to seek cover as fast as possible. As she landed she noticed she wasn't alone, though.

"Heya!" she greeted hastily, "is this place a-okay to wait 'till the storm passes?"

@hitodama89 It's alright!))

Mala raised her head when the ridgeback came in. "Hallo.. And yes,it is. I always remove our glamour when the rain comes. It's unpleasant to be caught in the rain." Getting to her feet, she rose to properly greet Theala.

As the Ridgeback hit the ground, the Guardian rose and let the visitor in. Theala thanked quickly by nodding her head and slipped past the other dragon so she wouldn't be getting any more wet than she already was.

"Glamour? What's that?" she asked bluntly as soon as she had some cover over her head.

RenTheDragonElf

"A type of magic.. Usually used to change the features of something.. " She bowed her head in a formal gesture. "Are you hungry perhaps? Or do you just want to dry off..?"

Hearing the Guardian's answer an understanding spread to Theala's face.

"Aah, the hocus pocus stuff! I've never been too much into that", she said and shrugged her shoulders. But when food came into question, her expression changed into much more interested one.

"Oh yeah, I actually have a little somethin' here myself! You want some?" she inquired while she sat, opened her crudely made bag and dug a couple of freshly caught fishes from it.

"You can have a few, but some I have to take back home, I think", she continued and offered the food for the Guardian.

Mala shook her head. "No thank you,my friend." She laughed softy. A Skydancer rushed past her and sat in front of Theala with a smile."My mate may not want the fish, but I'll take it!" The guardian bit her lip trying not to burst into laughter. Even though she'd never liked fish,Lupin's love of the creatures amused her. "I can get a fire going.. If you'd like."

Theala was just pulling the offered fish back when an amusingly small Skydancer appeared from somewhere and asked to take the meal instead of Guardian. Theala answered with a short, loud laugh and dropped one of the fishes for the newcomer.

"Be my guest!" she said happily and started to eat the other fish herself.

"A fire would be nice, yeah, sure. But tell me, guys, who are you? What are ya two called?" she then asked with raised eyebrows.

RenTheDragonElf

May 30, 2016 13:02:40

"I'm Mala.. " The guardian mused quietly as she began to set up the fire pit. "I'm Lupin! I'm the clan's lore master and mate to the Chieftess." He said, before swallowing the fish whole. "Lupin you really should cook those before you eat them!"

The pair announced their names, but Theala paid more attention to the Guardian's title; chieftess. Huh, what a funny coincidence was to meet a Guardian chief with an energetic, small companion - just like back home!

"Ah, nice to meet ya both. The name's Theala", she then introduced herself and chuckled mildly when the Guardian scolded the Skydancer. Truth to be told Theala herself was eating her fish raw, too, but maybe she didn't get to hear about it just because she was a guest.

"So, you two livin' here? By yourselves or- wait, no, you cannot be a chieftess unless you have something to be the chief of. So you have a clan?" she continued while licking her claws clean from the fish blood.

RenTheDragonElf

May 30, 2016 13:18:21

"Of course. You are in the BlackGlades,Theala.. Most of my clan is either sleeping out the storm..or out in it.." She laughs softly, nodding to the extended passages along the walls. "The mystic goes out with her mate during storms so that she can gather the herbs that only make themselves know in rain." Lupin looked at her. "How come you don't chide anyone else for eating fish raw?" "Because they don't share a nest with me."

When Mala told about her clan Theala turned her head to look inside the cave. The corridors seemed long, she thought, and probably accommodated a clan at least as big as hers.

"BlackGlades, huh... Fancy name!" she complimented and continued to smile to the pair's tiny quarrel about raw food. Whatever opinion everyone had about the subject the fish was nonetheless gone now, and Theala had a chance to move closer to the fire pit in the making.

"I live in the Water territory, south from here. Seafoam clan they call it. You've probably never heard from it though; it's pretty small bunch. But that's the way I like it", she explained in return.

RenTheDragonElf

May 30, 2016 13:36:18

"Yes.. You could say that.." The guardian laughed again. With a soft puff, the wood in the pit was alight. Lupin slithered on his belly, laying under his mate's cloak. "Seafoam? Very nice name... We have a nocturne from the water territory.. Alas,we found him as an egg though."

The fire was lit, and Theala seemed to relax significantly; it was time to get her hide dry again! She spread her wings a little bit so the skin on them would warm up as fast as possible.

"Hahah!" the Ridgeback laughed out loud when she heard about the Nocturne the clan of BlackGlades had, "and we actually have a Nocturne from Shadow! What even are the odds?"

As unpredictable as nature always is, suddenly a roar of thunder echoed from the sky. It made Theala flinch visibly. She wasn't particularly afraid of lightning, no, but she did certainly respect it. That's at least how she herself would word it out.

"...you really think it's safe for that mystic of yours to be out in this weather?" she thought out loud.

RenTheDragonElf

May 30, 2016 13:49:21

"What are the odds indeed." Mala laid so that her much smaller mate was engulfed in wing and cloak. "Viva will be fine.. She is a big imperia-" Just as the guardian says that, said imperial walks in with a coatl. Both are soaking wet.

As it's believed by some, when you talk about a person the said person will soon appear - and that's exactly what happened right now. From the darkness appeared two dragons, and Theala immediately made way for them. She didn't know them of course, but the two seemed to be headed this way and as the Guardian didn't oppose, neither did Theala.

"Heya!" she greeted happily but still a bit rattled by the thunder, "coming to dry yourselves, are ya?"

RenTheDragonElf

May 30, 2016 14:16:49

The imperial nodded her head, water dripping off her sedge hat."Hmm...Chieftess Mala, you already got a fire going! How kind." "What am I to do Clocks?" She asked of the coatl, "Let our guest freeze?" There is an amused chuckle from the blue colored imperial. "He's just jealous that you lit one better then he did."

As Theala watched the interactions between the other dragons she summed the situation in her mind: the newcomers were calling Mala their chief, so they belonged to her clan. And the only ones from her people being outside were apparently the mystic and their mate, so these two were likely them.

"The name's Theala", the Ridgeback once again introduced herself when Mala was talking about her. She also nodded her head briefly towards both of the new dragons.

"So, you're a mystic, right?" she then inquired from the Imperial, "does that include doing that... Magic stuff? Can you summon something that would make flying in this sort of weather bearable?" It wouldn't hurt to ask; Theala needed to get home some point, after all, and who knows how long this rain was going to pour?

RenTheDragonElf

May 30, 2016 14:33:24

The imperial turned her head and nodded. "Of course, magic is my specialty. Aside from communing with the spirits of the dead.. But if you are looking for something make the weather more bearable, you should be asking Clocks." The blacksmithing coatl waved his tail at Theala.

Theala started smiling widely, almost grinning, when she heard that there could be a way to get her home without soaking her hide again. First she stared hopefully at Viva, and then turned her attention towards Clocks.

"What can you do?" the Ridgeback asked as eagerly as a hatchling.

RenTheDragonElf

May 30, 2016 14:56:21

"I can easily mend an iron ore out thin enough to be used as a cloak."

hitodama89

May 30, 2016 15:04:23

After hearing what the smith was capable of Theala raised her eyebrows in amazement.

"Really? Wow, I've never heard of such thing even being possible! Ya see, we don't have a smith of any sort in our clan", she explained. Then she turned to dig her fish bag.

"Here, you can have these in return, if you really make me one of those iron cloaks! These are freshly caught and dee-licious", she promised and lifted a few big fishes in the air.

RenTheDragonElf

May 30, 2016 15:06:55

Clocks smiled at her, before hurrying off into the cave with the fish in his mouth and his mate in tow. "Those two.. Their unspeakably close." Mala laughed.

hitodama89

The deal was made, which left Theala smiling excitedly to herself. She could've surely asked to "borrow" the cloak for a while, but as she had been living in a multi-breed clan for a long time now, she had learned that trading things was way more efficient among non-Ridgebacks.

"I bet", she answered to Mala when the two dragons had left their company.

"We have some pairs like that, too. Me myself though, I'm not after such things. Seems mostly bothersome to be bound to someone all the time", the Ridgeback admitted.

((Okay, I'll gotta go now, so I'll end my part here. Thanks for the rp!))

When Theala received her new and shiny metal cloak, she thanked everyone for having her and flew home while being happy that she got to meet such a nice bunch of dragons.
