Nic and Jin grew up in a small town. They became friend because at first they were both hated by the majority of the community. Nicolai was disliked due to his albinism claiming various outlandish reasons as to why he was born the color he was: some said  he was ghostly, other that he was a demon, a vampire, a witch or a simply a vague bad omen.

Jin on the other hate was hated due to his birth circumstances and his father’s terrible actions. Jin’s father was a horrible, abusive and violent mad who took advantage of and killed his own sister and hurt many in town. The criminal was punished many times before eventually being exiled for good. Jin was left to his own device by his dad who didn’t take him along, thankfully Nic’s mother allowed him to live with her and her only child.

As years passed Nicolai became well liked by the town as he proved himself to be smart and helpful. He became the town’s doctor and occasional teacher. All these year of him being the energetic extrovert helping and curing everybody in town allowed him to gain the trust of everybody and any fears about him being any kind of bad omen was gone, some even started seeing him as an angel. Him being we-liked at this point made it possible for him to transition without much negative feedback. While lots still had trouble exactly understanding what was going on but not making a fuss, quite a handful took it as yet another sign of him potentially being an angelical figure transcendenting the human body. Many saw his self-operation as an example of how good he was when it came to medical sciences.

Jin remained quite disliked. Not only did he stay inside and isolated most of the time not really making much efforts to be liked he was also progressively looking more and more like his exiled father, reminding the town of the long gone criminal. Nic tried many times to get Jin to interact positively with people and tried his best to convince the town folks that he was a good person, but it didn’t really work. Jin was too afraid of the other inhabitants and the villagers were quite biased against him. At that point it was heavily considered for them to move town as Jin was having quite a hard time with the community still rejecting him.

Before the two could actually make a plan to move somewhere they liked, troops from the East invaded their town. The attackers ravaged everything in their path, breaking in each house one by one, taking anything valuable and either capturing or killing anyone they found. The duo lived on the edge of town in what used to be Nic’s mother’s house before her passing, this gave them the opportunity to flee before the invaders reached their side of town. They flew in the middle of the attack in pitch black darkness, only taking with them the clothes on their back, a little changes and the little money they had.

They ran west all night and crossed the border. They warned the local forces of the incoming danger hoping they would be able to do something before they would potentially reach them here. Troops were sent and the couple was asked to fill in new identification as refugee citizens of the country then sent  to sleep in the guard tower until they could later relocate them in a proper house. The house they currently live in was the house of a writer who recently passed away, it  was given to them as a reward for warning them of the incoming attack allowing the protective forces to combat an  defeat the threat. They were also given a fair amount of money that was found on the enemy that was speculated to be what they stole from the pair’s town of origin.
