Nearly every realm out there has a sun and moon god
Whether they know it or not.
Ten years ago,

Our Sun was killed.

Father was inconsolable.

His children prayed constantly, comforting Him in his despair. But He could never show his face without His wife by His side.

Father sealed Himself off in His Mausoleum,
Remaining quiet, yet refusing to let us leave our home any longer.

And only now are we truly seeing the consequences of losing our Sun,

and how little this place can even be called home anymore.

Far, far on the edge of existence, the outer rings of the multiverse, lies the Nythe, and the Nythe is nigh inhospitable in most places. Well, to us ‘Earthlings’, anyway.

There are no physical planets to speak of here. Only plains and layers that all eventually loop and blur and melt into one another. Essentially, a maze of both wonder and horror. It’s filled to the brim with warped sights and eldritch abominations galore. And it is a lightless place, don't be fooled. Any light you find has merely been crafted in unnatural ways, and it isn't nearly as bright as you may hope it to be. And the deeper you go, the darker it gets.

Inhabitants of neighboring realms and dimensions speak of Nythe in whispers and shaking voices. Some claim Nythe to be Hell itself, or at least one of many. Others call it the birthplace of gods and the source of any and all monsters and mayhem, and any further plains that utter the name only mention it in legends and fairytales: campfire stories to scare friends with under black skies and morality tales warning children not to go out at night. Either way, they all agree that any mortal outsider even stepping foot in the dark would be suicide ten times over. You either die or become one with the pitch, lost to time and space, and no one's sure which option is worse.

But there are a few special cases, buried deep in layers within layers, of something that could be considered more familiar to us. Special, hidden plains that may as well be called safe havens, asylums.

And unless an absolute miracle happens, the Nythe is about to be short one more of those safe havens.
